Things not so great on this blustery Friday.

Winnie hasn’t eaten anything since yesterday morning, so that has put us on edge. Kevin just talkedto the vet, who says it’s probably  because of the pancreatitis, so they are giving us more drugs for him. So hopefully things are not as dire as they have seemed all...

Winnie, hanging in there…

we took him to the vet this morning; we found that having him sit on my lap on the the ride to the doc is much better than him being in his cage. the vet visit, not so fun for him.  the good news, hopefully, is that he has pancreatitis, something that’s not...

winnie

Oh boy. On Friday he threw up, so we took him to the vet because of his diabetes, no food in his system after getting insulin. He was OK all weekend, until today; he ate breakfast, but he has not eaten anything else today, until Kevin gave him some canned chicken. He...

day two in seagrove beach, FL

I don’t think I mentioned the name of the town where we stayed – I was initially looking at a state park called grayton beach, and I was only looking at that park because my friend nan was going to camp there one night, and she’d heard it was nice. ...

maybe the computer is working now…

wayne found some viruses on this computer.  ugh, I don’t even like typing on it, because I feel they’re going to come back. a bunch of blah blah technical stuff was done, thank god for wayne, but…my screen just went black a little bit ago.  so now...

Sunday shenanigans

Computer shenanigans, that is. This morning I went to a fabulous yoga class, and  I also went running. But besides that, I have been staring at my computer. The screen on my computer kept going blank for quite a while, and I finally told our friend Wayne about it....

livin’ the life of…

riley. the cat, that is. we have a new cat!  his name is Riley. we didn’t expect to get another cat, after chester’s demise in january. but sometimes things just happen… he’s seven months old, we think, and he’s soft and sweet…we...

something accomplished this morning!

after writing stuff on this site since may of 2004, almost FOURTEEN YEARS, i’ve finally come up with an “about me!”  yaaaay for me!   so try to take a moment to read it, but only if you feel like it. i’m feeling excited about things today,...

march!

how did that happen? first, valentine’s day – we had a lovely lunch at a new place called Finley’s tap room, but kevin wasn’t feeling so good – as we ate, i could see him getting sicker.  oh boy. thursday morning he went to the doctor and...

happy valentine’s day!

i hope it is a good one for you.  here, it’s a warm day at least, although there’s no sign of the sun thus far. winnie is much happier now that chester is gone.  he hangs around near us most of the time, and he’s more calm.  so even though...

other things at the end of 2017…

well, here’s the great photo of lester and chester, as chester patiently waits for les to finish his meal so he can swoop in and devour the remains.  poor little kitty. winnie, sleeping on a “mutts” pillow. here’s mom’s living room facing...

Chestertarian

sometimes i’d called Chester “chestertarian,” making up a little song, rhyming it with librarian, unitarian, vegetarian, egalitarian, rotarian… here he is in august 2012. i love this picture of the three of them, something that could be an...

cheerful chester…

i haven’t felt like posting, or doing anything at all for about a week now.  i’m recovering from the flu, which is hitting everybody hard this year, it seems.  i got sick last saturday then kevin got sick then he got better then i thought i was better, but...

more of the denver dogs

i love this picture of christine’s dog Kita, with the soft glow of the lights on the tree. i took Douja for a run with me to the nearby park in christine’s neighborhood and we both had a great time.  i haven’t gone running with a dog in quite a while...

a quick visit to denver…

this has been an odd day.  it started out warm, got up to about 64 I think, and i was able to go running in a long-sleeved t-shirt.  but the temperature is dramatically dropping and we might have freezing rain and it’s going to get down to 18 tonight! and then...

charming chattering chester

some more photos of chester from November 2011…he and les were such good friends. this is about a week after we got him, and already they were snuggled together on the bed. the middle of november, out in the back yard with les. in December 2011, lester giving...

chester’s first month here at his new home

i took this picture on sept. 28th, 2011.  we kept chester in the hot tub room for a while, separated from everybody else, because we hadn’t taken him in to be neutered yet.  when we first got les and he was also not fixed, we let him roam freely in the basement...

the day that Chester first showed up…

this is a post from Tuesday Sept. 27th, 2011.  we had found Les Paul in June, and on Saturday Sept. 24th i was getting ready for a wedding celebration for our friends Janice and Garrick. at the end of the post i said that chester had killed a mouse but didn’t...

we are fortunate…

that we got to enjoy the company of our charming chester for six years. yesterday, our vet, dr. kris myers, found that his kidneys were grossly enlarged, meaning lymphoma. such an incredibly caring person, dr. myers carried chester into the exam room on a big soft...

p.s. that new photo on the banner

in the photo on the left, chester is patiently waiting for les to quit eating so he can hop up and polish off les’s food.  he’s always ravenous, and the vet did say he still has a big appetite, a good sign.

chester update

well…as of right now, 9:50 on wednesday morning, we have some hope. early yesterday morning kevin picked up chester from the emergency vet and took him to our vet, dr. kris meyers.  during the day they just weren’t able to get his blood sugar to go down...

ending the year on an anxious note…

yesterday morning, the last day of the year, i woke up to see chester lying on the bathroom rug in front of the shower.  chester never, ever does this, and i knew that something was wrong.  he was acting lethargic, and i worried that his blood level had dropped...
