i was going to wait till the bathroom was all done to post some photos, but i just can’t wait.  i’ve posted a couple of photos, but here’s what the bathroom looked like after kevin took down the big mirror and was dismantling the sink.

note the window – i wish i’d taken a close-up, but the paint all around the frame and on the sill was as mass of cracks.  this was the original window from when the house was built in the 30’s, but mom and dad came over today to see our progress and said that they had the builders (who did the addition) lower the window – when this had been my grandmother’s kitchen, it was much higher.  i wonder why they didn’t just put in a better window then.

here’s the wall and door that kevin put up last year…and it’s been unfinished since then.

b2

here’s the other side of the door.

b3

this is almost done, except that we need to put the doorframe back up, after i’ve painted it red.  also i need to paint the baseboards before kevin puts them back on.

b4

kevin took this picture after somehow bringing this ENORMOUS BOX containing the new sink into the bathroom.  it had been in the garage attached to the house, then he moved it to the other garage, then back to the first garage, then into the bathroom.  i bet he’s glad that he doesn’t have to move it anymore.

b5

and here’s kevin today, working on the plumbing.  yes, he does know how to do everything, but he does NOT like to do plumbing.  next to the sink is the new medicine cabinet/mirror that he’ll put up.

b6

this is after i’d painted it all blue and white, before i decided that i DID NOT WANT THAT BORING WHITE AFTER ALL.  in the daylight the two colors really looked almost the same.

b8

kevin took this yesterday – the new window.

b9

noodle walked right into the cabinet and seemed very happy there.

b10

here’s one of the sinks, without the stopper thing in it yet.

i’m excited about this bathroom but i really do think we’ll just have to live in there because it’s going to be the nicest room in the house.

ok then, i must get back to the olympics now,

saturday night grace.
