there is a large hole in our bathroom wall.  time is running out.  there’s a 70 percent chance of rain at 5:00 today.

kevin decided to go ahead and replace the bathroom window today before putting in the new sink, because the sink goes right under the window and if the old window were to fall out onto the sink it could break it.

he had said yesterday that it didn’t matter so much and he’d put the sink in first…but then today there was the big new window sitting in our hallway.  and shortly thereafter, a big hole where the window had been.

then, glass all over our brand new floor because sure enough, the old window fell and broke.

then kevin found out that there was no window frame around that old window, which was probably put in when the house was built, in the 30’s.

he had to go buy a new table saw and some wood, and now he’s furiously working…

here he is, earlier in the afternoon, when things seemed like they’d be simple…and quick…which we know they never are…

…and then he had to assemble the saw…

hmm, now if only the window had been out yesterday so i could have had a picture of the toilet in front of the open window…that would have been truly classy.

we took down all our outdoor christmas decorations a while ago, but there was still a very long cord (probably more than one) reaching out to the fir tree by the lane, with some rope lights twined around the tree.  kevin took that cord and used it to plug in the saw, which i thought was quite enterprising of him.

he bought 2 by 4’s, which he explained are actually 1 3/4 by 3 3/4, and had to cut them down so they were 1 and a half inches wide.

here’s the remnants of the broken window.

and numie, of course, wanted to be where i was.

it’s now 4:30 and there’s still that 70% chance of rain in a half hour.  at least there’s a porch over the hole in the window, so it would have to be  blowing really hard for the rain to actually get in the house.

i finally told kevin about the likelihood of rain, but he’s just work work working.  i need to now get my GIANT, CONCRETE-LIKE THIGHS off the couch and see if i can help…

ok then,

friday grace.
