Wales 2015
Well, technically this is “England, Wales, Ireland, and back to Wales,” but that’s a little wordy. Most of our trip to Wales in August 2015 was, indeed, spent in Wales. Except for the 15 nights spent somewhere on the Atlantic, crossing over and back on the Queen Mary 2. Plus another two nights getting from Chicago to NYC on the train. This trip was completely airplane-free, so it took a while to get there and back. Kevin and I were gone for five weeks, the longest trip we’ve ever taken together. The main focus of our journey was a self-guided walking tour along a very small section of the 186-mile long Wales Coast Path. We walked a portion of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Saturday, August 15th – 11 miles from Little Haven to Solva!
that's a lotta miles! well, not so many for experienced hikers, but a lot for us. we woke up early on saturday morning, before 7 a.m., and it was another beautiful day. here's the view from our window. breakfast was fresh everything, so delicious. because we were up...
Video from Friday, August 14th – a baby seal! a guy parasailing!
here's a video of our second day of hiking. watching the video just now, i saw how close i was able to zoom in on the baby seal way down on the rocks, as he made his way out to the water. there's also some pretty good footage of a guy parasailing; once again, i...
the evening of Friday, August, 14th, on the Pembrokeshire Path
we arrived at Little Haven at around three in the afternoon, and were pretty sure we knew where our b&b was, but once we actually got into town we couldn't quite find it. so we wandered around a bit, finally climbing a steep hill to arrive at the Pendyffryn...
Part two of Friday, August 14th – hiking the Pembrokeshire Path
my first set of photos of this second day of hiking only got us one and a half hours into our days' hike - here are the next bits along the way. here we are, about a half hour past the castle. it's funny how the castle already looks soooo far away. before we left,...
Walking the Pembrokeshire Path – Friday, August 14th (part one)
This was our second full day of walking, nine miles, from Marloes to Little Haven. because we'd only walked about five miles our first day, and it took such a very long time, i was a little nervous about making it nine miles on this second day. how will i ever...
A short video from Thursday, August 13th
I shot a little bit of video on the 2nd day of our wales coast walk - this day wasn't an official "walking" day, but we did hike around the hills in Martin's Haven. we then went on a boat ride near Skomer Island, but for some reason i didn't shoot any video - i think...
Thursday, August 13th – the second part of the second day of our walk,
which, as i mentioned in the previous post, didn't involve walking at all! well, not walking on the pembrokshire coast path, but we did hike around the area around Martin's Haven, where we took a boat ride out to Skomer Island. we had gotten to Martin's Haven early...
wales walking – thursday, august 13th
it's totally crazy, but on the second day of our walk in wales, we took a break from walking! i don't know why they scheduled the walk like that, but they did. i guess they figured that after 11 or 12 miles, we'd need a break right away? it was nice to have a break...
yaaaay a little free time!
so that's all the christmas present i need, an extra hour today when i was supposed to be working but i'm not! i got up early and cut together this video of our first day of walking; it appears i've gotten better about shooting the video so i didn't have to edit...
Still Wednesday, August 12th – the conclusion to our first day of the hike
now that's a wordy title! it was a very, very busy day. We hiked all around the Dale Peninsula, which may have only been 5 1/2 miles, but maybe it was more than that - however far it was, it took a very long time, as i've said. we'd made the decision to forgo seven...
the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, really the path, finally…
At the crack of 10 a.m. on wednesday, august 12th, we finally made it to the first gate onto the coast path. This was the path along the Dale Peninsula; as I've probably mentioned, Dale is such a tiny town that people I talked to in Wales who lived in Wales hadn't...
