Here are some photos of the very last Tomb Ceremony of the summer, which kind of wraps up summer…except that it’s about 96 today and feels like its 100 and something. Enough with the heat already.

Kevin was in charge of the Mortar Crew this year, and he did a most excellent job. Of course he bought everybody on the crew t-shirts! I wish I had a close-up of them because they’re quite spiffy.

I had them turn around and look over their shoulders so you could see that it reads “Mortar Crew” on the back, but clearly Kevin was the only one who knew exactly what to do.

Quite a few of them turned up for the very last presentation, and it was a nice evening. It’s good that it’s over because I think I might have skipped it if they’d had it tonight.

Een though this is a good shot of the guy in front, my objective was to take a picture of Kevin and one of his crew there in the background.

On the 27th I managed to get this shot of the beautiful full moon over the water.

The 28th was the first day after surgery that I was supposed to pick up more than ten pounds so I was able to take poor neglected Spot for a walk. I couldn’t have taken him the week before because I always have to pick him up and carry him back to his prison yard at the end of our walks. He was glad to be finally free.

This round a round had been in the living room and we recently realized that somebody was peeing on it so we put it outside. After Kevin saw how much Spot enjoyed it, he put it in the prison yard. They have another one in the garage, so they don’t run short of round a rounds.

This is my hands-down favorite moon over water picture; I know I’ve never gotten a picture where it was wavy like that.

On the 29th we went for a boat ride and the sky continues to enchant.

And boom, August sorted. Lots of stuff has already happened in September already, so I really need to get cracking.

Ok then,

Mrs. Ides of September Hughes.
