this morning i opened the big freezer in the kitchen and found the phone book on the top shelf.
THE PHONE BOOK.
of course i put it there; i distinctly remember that it was lying on the floor for a day or so and i kept thinking, “why do i have to pick up that stupid phone book?” I almost definitely the one who dropped it there to begin with; there’s all kinds of other stuff on top of that freezer stuck back in the corner, and sometimes if i reach waaaay up there to pull something down or put it back, stuff falls.
you can see, though, the BRAIN CELLS QUICKLY DISAPPEARING…pop! there goes another one! because for some reason in my addled state i put the phonebook neatly on the freezer top shelf.
it’s well-preserved now. also well-chilled.
amy told me that after getting ice cream out of the freezer she then put it back in the fridge and it melted of course, but she re-froze it and ate it anyway. at least it was a food item, is all i have to say.
i can’t believe i forgot to post this photo of erica winning a PRIZE at the sound of music sing-along which we attended a couple weekends ago.

i would give you three guesses, but you will never guess her costume…she was captain von trapp’s whistle.
yes she was.
when they called the people in costume up to the stage (and there weren’t very many people in costume), johnny molson, the MC, made a beeline for her, because of course she had that beer box covered with foil on her head. and of course she got a t-shirt! mostly adults were dressed up, mostly female, mostly wearing drindel skirtz, boooooring. but not my friend erica, she was much more creative.
a little kid dressed as a brown paper package and his sister with a big paper snowflake pasted on her face also got t-shirts.
johnny was also handing out suckers but for some reason he wouldn’t give erica one. i think he thought he’d run out before giving them to the kids, but he had plenty, and then started giving them to the adults but erica missed out entirely.
she was jubilant nonetheless. a good time was had by all.
here is numie when i babysat him the other day.

chester, doing his chewing paddy-pawing thing. we never tire of him doing that.

last evening i was outside and saw this lone gull sitting on a buoy and it was vividly illuminated and the lake was so purple that i ran to get my camera. of course i couldn’t capture the strikingness of it, but this is the general idea. it was like a spotlight was pointed on the bird.

i did manage to take a picture of the geese who were annoyed with me disturbing them in their yard, and flew down to the lake.

i have to go find other things to put in the freezer now.
ok then,
wednesday morning grace.
