and the highlight of my day was eating a chocolate chip off the dining room floor.

well, there were some other good things about the day, but usually if there’s something on the dining room floor, it’s a piece of dry cat food, not a delicious, not-yet-stale chocolate chip.

also it wasn’t covered with any cat hair or general filth from the floor, so that was a bonus, i didn’t have to wash it off.

another highlight of the day was later, when i was going to set my very large newly-poured glass of diet root beer on the kitchen counter and it SMASHED to the floor, sending root beer and ice and many, many shards of ice all over the place.  very dramatic.

kevin got out the super duper LOUDER THAN ANYTHING shop vac that his dad gave him, and i shop-vacced all the root beer and ice and glass.  i don’t know why i was stuck with the job, but it was kind of fun, and then i had to use it to clean the rest of the floor a little bit.

i was only a little deaf when i was done.

i only have a minute right now i suddenly realized, so here are three important pictures.

first, the silver coin from the flamingo hotel and casino in las vegas, the coin that we embedded in dad’s stone.

and the thing i think i didn’t mention about kevin’s exciting adventure in VA at the civil war shooting competition is that he got TWO MEDALS!

the amazing part of this to me is that he got there on thursday late morning, after driving the last four hours of the trip, he set up the pop-up camper, he collected his guns and hurried down the hill to the range and started shooting.  he wanted to shoot 8 different stages, with four different guns.  the first one he shot was the smoothbore, and he came in SECOND!

so i think that’s incredibly impressive.  this was shooting a target at 50 yards, then he did so well on the other smoothbore shoot that he got a combine score of 3rd place!

well done, kevin.

he only got to shoot one other gun and then the sky opened up and he didn’t get to shoot any more individual stages.

now i really have to go, but here’s darling lester and chester out on the table – they heard kevin come out the screened door and they were on high alert!

all right, i hope your memorial day has been memorable,
