after finishing the NY times article about mccain, i started reading the comments about the story. so many of them are so good that i kept reading…and reading…
here is one of the best i’ve read so far.
but i’m NOT reading any more right now. nope, gonna get up off the couch and make some progress on many many fronts…
…the thing i like so much about this comment is that mccain’s narrative is “almost shakespearean.” it makes me wonder if somebody has already starting to write the screenplay of his messed up campaign.
actually, maybe a studio has already optioned the article. i wouldn’t be surprised.
here’s the comment:
I’ve been following the American presidential campaign with great interest and personal preference aside, I find the story arc of the McCain campaign to be the most compelling narrative.
A once-honourable man – perceiving a slight and anticipating betrayal – decides that his principles are of little use to him against dishonourable foes. Vowing to defeat his enemies, he does the very things he used to abhor and in the process, not only loses the battle but forfeits his soul.
It’s almost Shakespearean.
