The weather was about to get chilly in Florida, so I figured we’d better take a boat ride and maybe see some dolphins on Sunday, Jan. 25th. But first, of course, we had to go to the grocery store. Aldi, this time, and it was a fine and large Aldi and right down the street, in the same strip mall where we’d had a delicious Thai dinner.

I found a cruise that sounded good, and it wasn’t far away. It was called Gasparilla Boat Tours, and I highly recommend it. We took a sunset cruise.

There were many pelicans all around in the harbor and I had to take many photos because I love them.

The guide on our boat told me something about the pelicans, something about the dark-colored ones. It’s too long ago to possibly recall what he said, maybe it was about how old they were? He was a laid-back and informative guy. I’m pretty sure his name was Jack.

I was so happy to be out on the water, and didn’t care much if we saw any dolphins at all. This is one of the abandoned boats that had run aground after a hurricane.

Maybe because there was a chance we wouldn’t see any dolphins, but Jack made a big deal about white pelicans, and we finally saw a group of them. I wonder if they’re our white pelicans?

We did see several dolphins, and in this video you can see some of them. It’s funny that the dolphins are just swimming around because that’s what they do, but we all go crazy spotting them.
The chilly weather was starting to set in, especially out on the windy water. My only gripe with the boat tour is that they only had a couple of blankets for people to use, and they were snagged by others. Oh well. Jack took our picture as the sun was setting.

Sunset on a boat on the water, doesn’t get much better than that.

Because it was so very windy the waves were very wavy.

As we headed back to shore Jack pointed out the bat boxes lined up. Cool.

A good time was had by all.
Because we’d been out to eat plenty of times and didn’t want to venture out that night, we had a lovely meal of the many leftovers on hand. I made myself a delicious mocktail with orange juice, lemonade and 7-up, and now I mix them for myself quite a bit. Tasty.

That night Mom and I watched an episode of “All Creatures Great and Small,” the newest series on PBS. Kevin and I had tried the old series from the 70s a while ago and didn’t care for it, but I loved this one, so much that when we got home I again watched the episodes that Mom and I had watched, this time with Kevin and we were happy to watch the whole series and will have to wait a while before a new season starts.
Ok then,
G.
