and it’s been challenging to feel awake at all.  last night we stayed out till one which isn’t so late for many people, but after the show and then drinking/eating a lot, i was SO TIRED, and still SO TIRED today and may have to have a nap soon.

the show, DANGER ADULT CONTENT: DIRTY WORDS went well last night.  if you want to see it you only have one more chance, tonight at 8.  it was sold out last night, so you need to get there early.  there was a line outside the door before 7:30.

the show went well.  before it started i was feeling anxious and a little nervous and i kept saying to myself WHY DO I DO THIS?  WHY DO I THINK THIS IS FUN AT ALL?  but then it was fun when we started.

in between each play, the band “silly joel” played.  they’re a billy joel cover band, and ralph and carly shank and nik rogers and abby eddy are in it, as well as a nice guy named michael who i met last night.  last night they were dressed as different variations of lincoln.  ralph was abraHAM lincoln sandwich, with the big foam sandwich draped over his shoulders.  michael was…well i think he was flava’ham lincoln.  he wore a big clock (that actually worked and was set to the correct time) around his neck.  he was like flava flave.  i’m sure that’s not how you spell it.  that ridiculous guy who wears a huge clock around his neck.  the thing is, flava flave himself seems to me like a ridiculous caricature of a human being, so it was doubly funny that somebody was being him, in combination with lincoln.

anyway, the band was great and the show was good and a good time was had by all.  if you go tonight, you’ll first see me in a pair of green coveralls.  you might not recognize me.  you should go see the show.  it’s a “ham-handed hootenanny,” to quote  the very funny johnny molson.  he plays a sport announcer in a wildly popular long play in the second act.

everybody in the cast is quite good, but patrick is the only one who gets to dress up in drag not once but TWICE.  i think the guys got more of the really funny stuff to do.  plus a couple of them partially disrobe at different times, which is always good for a laugh.

one of the personal highlights of the show for me, personally, was that jeff’s mom came and brought a giant bag of fun-sized snickers bars and i ate about four of them afterwards.  when kevin and i went to bed i heard mollie eating something but i knew it wasn’t anything authorized because she was making a lot of rusting sounds, so i turned on the light and she was furiously chewing a snickers wrapper.  i’m sure it was empty because i at all i had.  but she was very intent on eating the wrapper anyway.

today it is cold and gray yet again, a good day for napping.

first, here are the remaining photos of the missouri botanical garden.

isn’t the color beautiful?  they were selling botanical garden calendars in the gift shop, but i could make one of my own.

jim said we have these kind of ducks in the lake, but i’ve never seen them.

there were lots of giant koi in the water here, as well as the ducks.  you could buy koi pellets for a quarter to feed to them, and you know people did that a lot.  i took a picture of these ducks who were hurrying across the pond to get their fair share.

i thought this tree was beautiful because it had the full spectrum of the changing fall colors all in the one tree.

the last of the niki de saint phalle statuary – this was the three graces, and so i had to take a picture.

we’ll have to go back to the botanic garden when it’s cold out, and spend the day inside the warm conservatory.

ok then,

saturday now afternoon already grace.
