soon it will be time for the Il state fair! it’s remarkable how quickly the summer is going by. funny that in april it did nothing but rain rain rain, and now things are dry and i spent a great deal of time watering my flowers.
here’s a panorama of my fenced yard; all the lilies i transplanted from other parts of the yard looked glorious.

the hydrangea in the fenced yard are doing great, too – the ones that aren’t protected from the deer, not so great. les is keeping watch next to his cat house.

one of amy and jim’s darling italian greyhounds, but i’m not entirely sure which one. i think it’s mincy, because he had to have all but two of his teeth pulled and they stick out. and actually, whichever dog this is is lying on another dog, so completely cute. italian greyhounds are kind of like really snuggly cats, except when they’re boinging all around the place like maniacs.

because i transplanted the lilies in the early spring i had no idea which ones i was planting, so they’re a mix of colors.

even though the wire on top of the fence which keeps lester in makes the place look a little bit like a trailer park, we’re trying to improve the rest of the fenced yard. kevin brought this green table off the deck because we don’t need it and when he set it in the yard for a minute, chester jumped up. both kitties had their own resting spots for a brief moment. it’s funny, because chester never ventures on top of les’s house. i’m sure les would be happy to share?

i put this chaise lounger on the deck and found this wonderful orange pillow at the store. les was impressed, at least with another new place to lie down on.

it was neat to see the different lilies continue to bloom as june progressed.

sitting here now on the couch, i feel like i haven’t had any free time since the last time i posted. i know that’s not true, and i must get caught up. it’s funny, but the most excitement we’ve had around here is the instillation of a truly gigantic window facing the lake, and a bay window facing the fenced yard – so i’ll be posting more photos of the same view, only it’ll be different.
i hope your summer is going well.
ok then,
mrs. h.
