Randy and I took the train up to Chicago on Nov. 7th. Not to see a show, just to go to Chicago. But first – occasionally, Spot lies inside the top little room near the top of the fabulous kitty tower. He’s loudly meowing at me right now, as a matter of fact, which is one of the reason why I can’t manage to ever get much done, except for tending to cats.
I found a great deal on Trip Advisor for the Riu Plaza Chicago. It hasn’t been opened that long, which is why I think I got such a deal. The best part about it was the outdoor bar on the top, with plenty of overhead heaters and fire features plus a little glass-floored square jutting out over the street.
A very attractive young couple was on the balcony, with the guy taking many many pictures of his beautiful girlfriend, but finally they let me out there and he took a few pictures of me. That’s a sliver of the lake there in the background. Super duper cool.
Randy had no interest in going out on the glass-floored section. This is as far as he got. It wasn’t just Randy; other guys also had no interest in going out there.
Here’s a view of the street way down below.
The lights were starting to come on before we had to leave to go have dinner with my Aunt Sandy.
It was lovely to see her, and great to have some sushi.
Afterwards it was back up to the bar and the city looked even better all lit up.
Randy enjoyed a delicious espresso martini as we lounged on the loungers in front of the fire.
I, meanwhile, had a delicious glass of ice water. With lime.
It was a good day – the train, the rooftop bar, seeing my aunt – a nice glass of wine would have been a perfect ending to the day, but since it brings on the Afib, none of that for me.
Actually, since that trip I went to see my pulmonary nurse practitioner, who told me that since I’m doing so well with my CPAP machine that I can have a glass of wine. She said “have a glass and think of me.”
Funny thing is, I haven’t done that yet. I was going to have a glass of wine at Thanksgiving but just didn’t feel like it. I did buy a bottle the other day and had a shot glass full. I’m being vewy vewy careful. No need to rush into anything…
Meanwhile, December has started lurching along and soon it’ll be Xmas. Too much to do. But it’s all good….
Ok then,
Mrs. Holiday Hughes.
