janice and garrick lost their funny, sweet dog Moon this week.  he was a really good dog, and they are heartbroken.

here he is, earlier in the year,  looking so cheerful despite wearing a cone of shame.

good dog.

christine just adopted a dog, the first dog she’s ever had as an adult.  her name is kita, and she, too, looks like a very good dog.  i hope to meet her sometime.

christine works a lot, and i asked what she’d do with kita during the day.  luckily, her friend lawrence has a dog and a doggie door and must have an awesomely fenced-in yard there in denver, so every morning christine drives kita over to lawrence’s house for a playdate.  how great is that?

we went to the dog show last weekend, to see the parade of prettified breeds.  the dog show owners were bustling all over the place, trying to show their dogs in the best light possible.

one thing i like about the dog show is seeing a big group of the same breed of dog all in the same place.

i wish i’d gotten a better shot of all the sheep dogs.  there appear to be two types, the smooth-haired ones the the fluffier ones, who were always getting teased and hairsprayed and you couldn’t see their eyes at all.

i asked the owner, a nervous-looking man, if i could take a picture of his elaborately-trimmed great big poodle, because he was lying there so funny.  the man really didn’t want me to, but i assured him that i had no flash, and he grudgingly let me take this picture.  i guess this is why i didn’t take more close-ups of the pooches, because the owners seemed pretty high-strung about their pets.  it kept reminding me of the movie “best in show.”

before that we went to the cat show – we couldn’t pet any of those animals cause they were either in cages or being judged.

this kitty is doing all the judging, though.

there were lots of these smooshed-face kitties.  then there were lots of cats up for adoption, but at least i knew that most of them do get adopted at the cat show.

kevin sent me this photo while we were going, saying this was the cat show here at home.

randy bought our kitties a few toys; i didn’t buy any because they all looked like they wouldn’t survive more than three minutes with our kitties.  randy keeps saying DON’T LET THEM TAKE THEM! which is easy for him to say.  i’ve mostly only let them play with the long peacock feathers, which don’t look so much like feathers anymore and are all bent up and kind of sad-looking.

i took les for a walk the other day and he was happy to perch on the tree stump cause there was definitely something down in a hole.

he never did see whatever it was, but he had a good time looking.

here’s randy’s halloween table.  very festive and nice.

the only decoration we have is a cute light-up snoopy in a pumpkin costume that amy gave me, and i usually forget to even turn it on.  our stacks and stacks of tubs remain in the basement, because when we decided to not have the big party this year, i didn’t even feel like getting out any decorations.

a friend of mine said that many people will be disappointed that we’re not having the party, but i’m not disappointed at all.

i sure would like some halloween candy, though.

and that is all for this chilly friday morning.  i hope you have a good one.

ok then,

mrs. fall hughes.
