Yesterday we celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary and it’s amazing that it has been 18 years. Time has flown by, and I must remember to spend every day trying to enjoy the ride.
Yesterday afternoon I was looking at all the photos from August, feeling overwhelmed because there are so many of them, including so many from the fair, where I went maybe three times and did my best to not take one million photos.
But we went for a lovely boat ride yesterday evening which made me reflect on how good life is, and how I need to savor it already.
We cruised past the Motor Boat Club, where we’d had our wedding reception and a big flock of gulls was perched on to of the dock to greet us.

In honor of the occasion Kevin wore the beautiful shirt he’d bought on our vacation in Hawaii. It’s my favorite, with vintage-looking pictures of Hawaii.

Yesterday was fairly hot and it’d have been unbearable if the weather had been like that 18 years ago. We were lucky that day, besides lucky getting married, but also because the weather was perfect. But on our boat ride last night it felt pretty delightful out on the water as the sun was setting.

The clouds turned pink as the sun set and the moon started to rise.

I’d wanted to go down Long Bay, my favorite bay, but it was starting to get dark and we didn’t have the flashlight to dock in the dark so we just passed it by. The sky was pretty spectacular after we docked. It was also awfully dark at a little after 7 p.m.
I just looked at a calendar which said that the first day of fall is this Sunday. Good grief, how did that happen? At least it’s going to cool off a little by the beginning of next week, with temps below the 80s. When that happens I’m going to attempt to finish up a bunch of the things on my “Summer 2024” list and then start in on the “Fall 2024” list. So much stuff to do, so little time…
But it’s all good.
Ok then,
Mrs. Grace Hughes.
