i just wanted to put a new, summer-themed banner up there. since i put up new banners less than once a month, i can get a little fuzzy on how exactly to upload a new one. i know that i need to upload a new one TWO TIMES somewhere in all the mass of files in my file manager, but when i tried it, there was just a big blank space on the top of the site. so now i’ve uploaded the image THREE times and it’s up there, WHEW, but i know also that there are one too many.
but it’s DONE, so now I’VE ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING TODAY! YEA FOR ME!
plus i had to take more bird photos. there were at least 20 doves sitting around the bird feeders, but when i reached up to pull back the obstructing shade cord, they all flew away except for three. but then they came back – for a while there were about 26 of them up in the tree, but then they eventually their hunger trumped their fear and most of them came on down.
first, a couple of nice photos that kevin took the other day. we’d just talked about how the squirrels hadn’t been around in such a long time, and there was a big one.

all the birds on the table are doves, except the obvious cardinals.

i like this photo because the dove is flying in, plus there’s the big potato sitting there.

nobody has any interest whatsoever in the potato, nor the bite-sized pieces of sweet potato. mollie would enjoy them, but mollie went to the vet yesterday and she is FAT FAT FAT and has to lose 10 pounds. perhaps we’ll diet together.

this one woodpecker just sat there, not intimidated by the huge swarm of doves. he’s not so easy to spot because he’s looking right at me; he’s in the back and has just that tiny speck of red on his head. no, looking at it, i’m sure he’s easy to spot because he’s all alone in that crowd of doves, except for that other little bird off to the left.

VERY productive day today! the birds have all gone now and i’d like to put some more food out for the raccoon hot meal program, but i don’t know what i’d put out there plus he never seems to come after i’ve put out something hot and then it gets cold and freezes. i think he did finally eat the shrimp egg foo young, or maybe mollie somehow got it off the table and scarfed it down. she’s not afraid of chipping a tooth on frozen food.
ok then,
friday grace.
