i wrote about mollie being VERY VERY UPSET that we left her alone with thad fwhen we went out to dinner , and was forced to be petted by him, plus she kept leaping to the window to see if we were coming, jumping up on his very fancy leather chair. thad doesn’t have a dog, and he wasn’t keen on mollie being on any of the furniture, but was finally OK with her being on the couch on her own blanket.
really, thad was the one who was very upset, i think, having to deal with this dog who acted like she was afraid of him plus she kept scratching his leather chair. he said that every time she did it, he asked her to get down and she did. this is because, of course, she’s a very good dog. she just doesn’t like us to abandon her.
before this, though, i forgot to mention about going on my friend jimmy’s yacht. we brought mollie down to jimmy’s house, thinking that she’d go on the boat with us, but jimmy said she would be fine at his house – along with his other dogs. we were only at his house for about an hour before we left for the boat, not a lot of time for mollie to get acquainted with jimmy’s two dogs. one is a very very old schnauzer named pierre, who is deaf and kinda blind and doesn’t get around so well, but pierre clearly wanted mollie to know that he is the ALPHA MALE. he growled a little at her, and was generally old and cantankerous. jimmy’s other dog, Louie, is an adorably ugly pug, who was very enthusiastic about mollie coming to visit, and louie really, really wanted mollie to play with him, and wanted to sniff her a lot, and of course mollie wanted nothing to do with that damn DOG.
louie is a lot like amy and jim’s dog numie, in his exuberance and love of everybody.
so kevin and i were kind of worried about mollie being left along with these dogs she’d just met, especially since she doesn’t care for other dogs as a rule. but jimmy showed mollie the doggie door (with an exit to the big and beautiful back yard), and off we went.
kevin and i continued to worry about mollie, but then we didn’t so much because we were having such a good time on the boat. jimmy said that they’d all sniff each other for a while, then they’d get tired and all take naps.
jimmy’s daughter taryn went back to jimmy’s house before we did, and when we got home, she said that when she’d arrived all the dogs were sleeping in various places around the living room.
jimmy was right, of course. when we got to jimmy’s, all the dogs were, of course, hysterical to see us.
all was good.
what’s not so good this morning is that i got up at 6:30. i decided there’s TOO MUCH TO DO, that i need to GET MY LAZY BUTT OUT OF BED AND DO STUFF.
kevin was so alarmed that i got up that he had to come in and see what was wrong.
more virginia photos in just a little while…
ok then,
too early on thursday morning grace.
