the snow that fell on monday night was sparkly; it looked hollywood fancy sparkly movie snow.

there was quite a bit of it. nothing like the mountains of snow out east – i can’t imagine actually going outside there.

here, the birds were feasting as the snow fell.

do you think this is ice on her beak?  or is it food?

921

and why isn’t there any on the male’s beak?  are females just messier eaters?  i know that in our family, i’m the only one who requires a napkin.  sometimes two.  maybe because kevin eats so fast the food has no time to stick to his hands.

all the birds fly away if i make a quick move.  but they’re just all hiding in the bush.

when i got home from the oral surgeon yesterday morning, mollie was sitting out on the porch.  it was only about 13 degrees, and she wanted to go inside.  kevin was out plowing the driveway, though, and mollie was very very alert to the fact that he was outside doing something , but she had no desire to want to join him outside.

97

here’s the cleared driveway.

98

kevin quickly finished our house then started on amy and jim’s.

99

mollie did want to go out back with me because she always wants to scrounge around for bird food on the deck.  she trotted right down to the dock, though.

910

here’s her path.

9111

the snow was so sparkly, as was the lake – really, really lovely.  it was nice, except for the biting cold wind.

kevin and i went to a japanese restaurant in the quad cities quite a few years ago, and i went crazy and got a drink served in this funny little guy. that hole in his chest is where the straw went.  i don’t know how he ended up outside, but he’s been sitting there all through the winter and now he’s saying “i give up!  no more snow and cold!  bring on the warm weather, and fill me up with something slushy not snow!”

913

bird landing.

my bathroom is very very yellow, but the red helps.  it’ll all come together, i’m confident.

ok then,
