Today i’m tired from all that cooking.
but first, the tale of the chair…
mom and dad had two plastic adirondak chairs down by the dock. sometime in april, jim and his nephew T.K. were down at the dock fishing and they had one of the chairs on the dock and they went up to the house for a bit and a very strong wind came up and swept the chair and a fishing rod out to sea. out to lake.
they retrieved the pole right away, but the chair sunk.
my brother david started swimming in the lake in may even though the water is still very cold in may, because he’s a little bit crazy. whenever he swam he’d dive down and look for the chair but we figured it had probably floated away.
the summer progressed, david kept swimming, and the water level was very high all summer. it’s finally getting lower now. yesterday morning jim and i swam and he said “let’s look for the chair,” but i didn’t because i figured it was pointless plus i didn’t want to dive down in the water.
yesterday afternoon, to celebrate her birthday in a way that didn’t involve sitting around looking up vacation destinations on the internet, amy decided to swim. she and jim were in the water and jim once again suggested looking for the chair and amy says that five seconds later she felt like the chair was right underneath her.
sure enough, it was upside-down in the water and she could feel the bottoms of the legs. they pulled it out and rescued it.
it needs to be cleaned up a little bit.

it make me wonder about the many many things that must be lurking in the bottom of the lake.
after all that birthday excitement, there was lots more cooking by me, but erica and mom helped, and then when other people showed up they helped too. including jim bringing a fan into the kitchen because i was frying things on two burners and it was rather warm in there.
a good time was had by all, and amy even said i could post a photo of her here! so here she is, the somewhat crazy-looking birthday girl.

here’s the chocolate cheesecake that she insisted i get a picture of because of the little fish stickers attached to it.

here she is as randy and jim bring some of her many many lovely gifts.

and that’s about it. no excitement today, which isn’t a bad thing.
ok then,
september grace.
