the summer whizzes past. yesterday i spent about five hours working out in the yard. i weeded for an hour and kevin had tilled up some of the grass to make an areain the fenced yard to plant hostas, so I spent time moving my paver bricks to create a new border.

then the hostas – ugh. i managed to transplant all of them from the side of the house, but i think i’m much less than halfway done. i’m hoping that kevin and i could try having him hand me each hosta over the fence, because yesterday i loaded a bunch of them in my little wagon and dragged it through the bedroom and out the back door. i did that a couple of times, and it was a whole lot of work.

and then there are the lilies…i pulled up a few of them yesterday because i figured it doesn’t matter because the deer have eaten off every single bud. there are so many lilies and there really isn’t a place for them yet in the fenced yard.

so i guess i’m feeling overwhelmed this morning. i have to give a massage soon so i don’t have to think about yard work right now, but maybe later?

maybe i’ll wait til tomorrow. i’m tired and sore today.

on the bright side – amy, mom and i took a great boat ride last night. a cool breeze was blowing, a good time was had by all. we saw some kind of interesting bird that amy had never seen before; because jim knows all about birds, amy has also been learning. i tried taking a few pictures but they were all blurry. maybe it was some kind of heron, said amy.

i went running by the field on july 1st, and look how short the corn was…it’s always almost as tall as i am by the 4th of july, but it was only barely knee high in a few places, but mostly much shorter than that.

because it had been too hot to do stuff outside, i spent a few days working on my music room. if you’ve ever seen it, it had many, many piles of detritus all over the floor. it’s finally much better, with only a couple of piles of picture and frames that i have to deal with. i still need to clean out and organize even more things, but at least it’s a start.

on the 4th i saw this funny little pontoon boat glide by. it was so tiny and there were at least about 10 people crammed inside, but the funniest thing was that they’d rigged a tarp over the roof. it rained part of the day, so maybe they wanted to be sure that they could stay out there no matter the weather.

ok, must get off the couch now.
