of FREE ICE CREAM! my cold stone creamery coupon expires tonight and it’s just not gonna happen. oh well. my friend gary wrote and said i should march into baskin robbins with a printout of all of kevin’s knee woes and ask for a grace period…but now i’ve squandered TWO ice cream opportunities.
after doing THE FINAL PAINTING I HOPE TO GOD, of three doors in the house, we went to see “sex & the city.” i was dying to see it, and kevin was a good sport to go with me, and mom went too and she commented that kevin was one of the few men there. i didn’t think that was true but when we left i realized she was right.
the movie was…ok. it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t very…substantial. some of the series episodes had more going on than the four storylines they had in the movie. plus, carrie and miranda both seemed way too over the top and nutty in their reactions to the unfortunate things that happened to them. too much melodrama.
plus there wasn’t enough of smith jared. sure, he was there looking very cute, mostly bare-chested, but he really didn’t have anything significant to do.
and steve…he looked OLD. i guess that must be because he’s getting older, and clearly he hasn’t had the things done to him that the women have, in order to keep looking much younger than they are.
i’m now looking forward to “ironman” and “indiana jones.” i JUST WANTED TO SEE SEX & THE CITY, but now i’ve realized that i could have waited till it came out on video. but the other two movies, they need to be seen ON THE BIG SCREEN.
one of the trailers before the movie was for “he’s not that into you,” which looked cute, but then at the end i saw the writing credits – and my friend abby and her boyfriend (maybe husband now?) mark are the writers!
i met abby in LA, when i went to a standup acting class. she was one of the most serious funny people i’ve ever met. she had mark had already written “never been kissed” at that point, and she told me a story about getting to go to a party at shaun (or maybe david?) cassidy’s house and shirley jones (their mother) was there and she played the piano. and maybe abby and shirley both sang? but i can’t imagine abby singing. no, she must have just said how amazing it was to be there in the room with shirley jones playing the piano and singing.
i wonder if abby and mark ever got married. i bet they did. they must be still living in LA, where it is ALWAYS WARM. but there’s way way too much traffic.
my husband is now gathering together his things to do some kind of cowboy shooting in the morning. not THE cowboy shooting with the cowboy clothes, but some…other kind…involving a musket, maybe? no, not a musket, he doesn’t have one of those. as far as i know. but he has to go do this early in the morning. i’m hoping he’ll be done soon (does he have to make bullets? doesn’t that sound like it would take a long time?) so we can watch a tape of “reno 911” from thursday night.
yes, life here at the hughes household continues to be scintillating and dramatic, especially on a saturday night.
ok then,
saturday night grace.
