that’s what the roto rooter man found in our toilet. the pets are off the hook. for now, anyway. mr. RR and i are now waiting for the return of kevin and our new toilet. breathless anticipation is the only way to describe the excitement level around here.

and speaking of pets…i just read more about the pet food recall, and the thing that struck me most was a report about china and their handling of food, which i suppose also includes food for human beings. the report said “chemical scares and mass poisonings are common in China, which has been struggling to improve a dismal food-safety record. Manufacturers often mislabel food products or add illegal substances to them. Cooks routinely disregard hygiene rules or mistakenly use industrial chemicals instead of salt and other ingredients.”

ARE COOKS IN CHINA BLIND? how does one mistake INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS for SALT???

personally, i don’t store chemicals next to salt. but i envision a blind old chinese cook going to his pantry and shakily trying to read the labels on his giant glass jars full of white powder. i assume none of them are labelled, or maybe the print is very tiny, and he can’t ascertain if it’s salt or the chemical he uses to clean the toilet.

and speaking of toilets…our new one has arrived.

like i said, nonstop excitement around here, and it’s not even noon.

ok then,

still waiting for chocolate eggs or bunnies grace.
