suddenly the grass is green, and life is good.

shadow is here visiting today. right now he’s sleeping, mollie is sleeping, and the cats are outside running around. you may recall that honey was spending time on the roof; now winnie has braved the ladder and kevin heard both of them running around up there yesterday morning.

now i feel that we shouldn’t ever take the ladder down, because then what will the cats do for fun?

plus there is still work to be done on the roof. last october we barely finished putting the last shingles up before it got completely dark; mom and randy were up on the roof with kevin, who refused to let them leave until they had finished, even though they kept saying they had to leave.

but now somebody has to take the middle piece off the top of the roof and cut a hole all the way down the center. kevin, of course, can’t climb around because of his ongoing knee complications and pain. little does randy know the excitement that is in store for him…

here are a couple of photos from the play. in the first scene i shuffle on wearing my own purple slippers; i’m a very old waitress. the black thing i’m wearing hangs down over my face so you can’t tell that i’m not really so ancient after all. i’m with randy.

me and randy

here is amanda and me, dressed for the musical “jazz hot.” not all the women wear white; bev and erin wear pink. actually, it just now registered that amanda was wearing white. during the number i’m usually so busy focusing on doing it and not messing up that i don’t pay that much attention to the other people on stage, except i try not to crash into or kick anybody.

amanda and me

amanda and i were in “singin’ in the rain” at the muni many years ago. she’s a great person and i’m happy to be in a play with her again after all these years. she’s also an exercising NUT – she runs about 11 miles a day, three or four days a week. on the days when she works (she’s a nurse) she also teaches a couple of classes at the fit club after her long work day. she makes me feel slovenly and lazy, but that’s ok because she’s a very nice person.

i’m a maid in a very short scene, and mary plays a man.

mary and me

mary’s character in the play is an actual man, as opposed to barb’s role – barb, the lead, is victoria grant, who impersonates a man being a drag queen. but mary’s character is a man but DON’T TELL ANYBODY who might go to the show because it’s a BIG SURPRISE.

i have one more costume, when we’re all bleached-blonde chorus girls in “chicago illinois,” but the costume change is so fast that i didn’t have time to take a pictue. hopefully i’ll have time soon.

here’s me and brett in our costumes and white makeup for the finale.

brett and me

because i think the makeup makes us look so scary, i told him to make a face. erin joined us for this picture. i don’t think the photo does the scariness justice.

brett and erin and me

after the show, before bev and i raced home to get ready for the party, i had to have one more shot of the makeup. we had put our hair in pin curls to keep it out of the way and to make the wigs stay on better, and when i took the pin curls out my hair was beyond bad.

clowns

we’re like really scary clowns.

it gets warmer and warmer outside and i just might venture off the couch and go running today. i’ve been tired ever since the weekend. we have rehearsal again tonight and then two more shows and then I’M FREE!

ok then,

wednesday grace.
