and we’re sitting out on the screened porch drinking wine and…well, i’m looking stuff online, but i’m about to stop that.  kevin is reading a gun magazine.  mollie is lying in a stupor because…

well, mollie has been a bad dog.  yet again.  but really, aren’t we the bad parents here?  bad, bad parents.  thank goodness we don’t have children.

we took mollie and shadow to petsmart.  i think this is the first time shadow has been in a store, because he seemed a little bit scared at first.  i held him for a while, but then he enjoyed walking around and smelling all the dog food…and the dog pee.

it doesn’t actually smell like pee at petsmart, but i’m sure it does to the very sensitive doggie noses.

we bought them two huge, 4.5 pound doggie…well, they’re doggie sausages, kind of.  they don’t smell bad, actually.  like…sausage.  kevin cuts off a bit of it each night and mixes it in with their food.  we brought the food home and put it on the dining room table, and then had to rush off to pick up kevin’s car which needed lots of brake work after getting lots of brake work last week.

i got home first, and mollie didn’t come out to greet me.  shadow walked in out of the living room licking his chops.  i called mollie and saw a scrap of the sausage wrapper on the floor.  uh oh.  she wasn’t upstairs hiding, and she wasn’t about to show her doggie face.

i walked into the bedroom and there she was, trembling in fear because she knew she’d been very, very bad.

but man, it was very, very delicious.

the sausage remains were lying on the bedroom rug.  she had eaten about half the roll.

she felt very very bad.

i told her she was bad.

she felt terrible.

but, i’m sure, very satisfied.

so now she sleeps.  i read on the package that you could give a dog of her size a 4 1/2″ piece of the sausage as a complete meal, so she really didn’t eat a huge amount more than she should have.

but really, if we hadn’t left it on the table, she wouldn’t have eaten it.  it’s like doggie heroin.  if you leave an opened box of chocolates on the table, i’m going to eat it.

gracey heroin.

i keep saying that we MUST BE MORE VIGILANT and we feel like we are…but then we aren’t.

the dogproof locks should be arriving soon.

but of course they won’t do any good if we continue to leave stuff out.

i feel that mollie’s weekend has started off on a fine note.

ok then,

friday grace.
