“Lake Leman lies by Chillon’s walls:
A thousand feet in depth below
Its massy waters meet and flow…
There are seven pillars of Gothic mould,
In Chillon’s dungeons deep and old,
There are seven columns massy and grey,
Dim with a dull imprison’d ray,
A sunbeam which hath lost its way…”
Lord Byron, The Prisoner of Chillon
this is a bit of lord byron’s famous poem (I’d never read it). this is the castle, which mom visited yesterday. they also performed in the castle’s courtyard. cool, huh?
this is the restaurant where they had dinner tonight. it’s called the Altes Tramdepot and i had to look it up because it sounded like…train station. which i thought would be a funny place to eat dinner.
here’s the photo:

and this is what the website says about it:
The restaurant has a fantastic view onto the old town of Bern and is located right next to the Bärengraben (Bear Pits).
The Tram beer is brewed from hop and malt right in front of the guests in the copper brewery in the middle of the restaurant. The banquet hall on the first floor as well as other areas of the restaurant are ideal for any type of event.

Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; this is what the switzerland website says about the city:
The perfectly preserved medieval street plan, with its arcades, street fountains and doughty towers persuaded UNESCO to deem Bern a World Heritage Site, placing it in the company of such legendary sites as Florence, Petra and the Taj Mahal.
nice. let’s go to switzerland! what are we waiting for?
ok then,
wednesday grace.
