the weather is perfect; soon i will go plant some of the many flowers i bought for the newly-mulched area down by the dock.

last night randy and i went to TWIRLS N SWIRLZ, or whatever the fabulous new yogurt place clear on the other side of town is called.  I LOVE THAT PLACE.  if it was closer, i’d be there way too much.

we got home and pulled into the driveway, where a bunny was standing there looking at us.  i think he wanted to tell us about the pack of baby raccoons who were scampering up and down and all around the tree that’s next to the parked camper.

kevin had popped up the camper yesterday because he bought some netting to make a screened-in area under the new awning, and he was trying to finish that up.  the door wasn’t on the camper, so were the raccoons busy inside?

i hurried in to get kevin and he finally found a flashlight.  the raccoons had hightailed it out of the yard, and some were hiding way up in the tree.  no damage to the camper.  they’re very polite, those baby raccoons, but they’re getting pretty desperate now that their source of food is gone.

before we went to bed we closed the windows facing out onto the deck.  it would be kind of alarming if they climbed in.

we’re about to go get les paul.  kevin took him to the vet yesterday to have his front paws de-clawed.  i was reading about the declawing online and there were sites that said IT’S HORRIBLE AND CRUELTY TO ANIMALS AND NEVER DO IT.  but if we didn’t have his front paws declawed, he wouldn’t be able to stay, because he has already been very busy using his little talons to scoot all around our big couch, not to mention the potential devastation to the leather chairs and other stuff.

i told him the night before that i was sorry he was going to have to go through the pain, but luckily, since he’s a cat, he had no idea.  he just gnawed at my finger and sprinted around the house.

winnie was really, really happy yesterday, thinking that THAT DAMN CAT had gone for good.  winnie would really prefer being the only cat, although the night before last, both kittie were lying SO CUTE at the foot of the bed, so darling that i wished i’d had my camera.  it didn’t last all night of course, because when les paul wakes up and looks over at winnie, he has to of course reach over and give him a swipe.  he just wants to play, but winnie just wants to sleep.

ok then,

mrs. thursday hughes.
