WOW what a day today has been…it completely got away from me and things were a little crazy and suddenly it’s 7:39 at night and i’m finally sitting down, poring over the many many photos i took yesterday as the storm raged outside.

there was a 20-car pileup on I-55 just north of Williamsville; four vehicles caught on fire and an ambulance EXPLODED.  it was a good choice to not venture outside all day long except for the critical feeding of the birds, but that didn’t involve getting in the car thank god.

i felt so sorry for those poor cold little birds outside…

i wonder what could be the name of these cute little red-breasted birds.

mollie was dying to get outside, and she scared away the birds down at the feeder beyond the fence.

she didn’t stay outside long, though.

i like this picture because it looks like she’s squinting from the cold.

i wish you could see the big waves on the lake.  it was so windy, and the snow was whipping all around.

poor, puffed-up mourning doves.  i like that cardinal in flight in the back there.

until i started watching them more closely, i never knew that birds had snow all over their beaks when they eat in the snow.  makes sense, doesn’t it?  but it’s nothing i ever thought about.  they just look so darned cute with their snow-encrusted beaks.

brrrr.  that’s all i have to say.

ok then,

mrs. monday evening grace hughes.
