and things are…OK. not terrible at this little point in time.
but you never know.
i keep checking the IMAX website to see if more theaters are showing GRAVITY: AN IMAX 3D EXPERIENCE, but it’s still only kennisaw, GA and tallahassee, FL.
meanwhile…
october, still trying to get through october…
when kevin and garrick went to virginia, i was left alone with our three wild cats. one afternoon i took les for a walk on his leash in the back yard, and winnie was outside. chester was desperate to get out, too, so i figured, what’s the worst that could happen?
i quickly found out.
les, chester and i were in the back yard, and winnie suddenly spotted chester, his ARCH ENEMY, and i could tell he was about to chase and attack him. i yelled at him, scooped up lester, and hurried to the back deck, where winnie had dashed.
he jumped on chester and suddenly it was an ugly cat fight, and les freaked out, terrified. he shot out of my arms, his back legs ripping my flesh, and managed to completely wiggle out of his harness as he smashed onto the deck and went crazy and boinked out into the yard.
oh dear. i didn’t want let to get too far away, blood was running down my arm, and i hurriedly got winnie inside the door.
but then chester desperately wanted in, and of course i figured that would cause more chaos, and i needed somebody there to help me wrangle all these cats. if somebody could get winnie into the house, they could shut the door from the house to the screened porch and i could safely get chester inside.
but there was nobody to do that.
i finally opened the screened porch door and nudged winnie out of the way, and chester got into the house and i hoped that they wouldn’t kill each other.
i sat outside with les, and somehow finally managed to calm him down, then picked him up and brought him inside.
not the best kitty walk.
i sent kevin this photo of my wound.

it’s funny, because right now chester and winnie are both sleeping peacefully here in the living room.
here are some photos of kevin out on his catamaran, which i think is actually not a catamaran, but i can’t remember what it’s called instead. mom and i were out on the pontoon boat, so i was able to get some closer photos of him.

since he didn’t yet have the sail for the sailboat, he made do with the (non) catamaran, and seemed to have a good time.
we took another pontoon boat ride, and these bushes were in somebody’s yard.

they’re sumac, and they’re so beautiful, and i don’t know why nobody else has them! they’re such a frank lloyd wright-type of plant, that you’d think more people in springfield would plant them. mom says they were considered weeds. maybe they still are? i don’t know, but i want some. they’re fabulous, and i couldn’t get a good enough picture to do them justice.

my friend debi went to La Jolla, CA, and i told her about La Valencia hotel, an old and fabulous place right across from the ocean. mom, dad and i all had lunch there a while ago, and i think dad had gone there when he was a little kid.
here’s the view of their fabulous pool.

and the lovely grounds…

…and the ocean. i’d like to take kevin there someday.

and finally, here’s our view when we went up to sterling to visit kevin’s family. we went to this restaurant right on the river, and the view was really perfect.

the next morning kevin and i took a walk on the path alongside the water near our hotel. we came across this nice park, with a restored railroad car in it. kevin had never been to this park, and hadn’t even heard of it. i couldn’t understand how he managed to live so close and yet be so completely unaware.

and that’s all for now.
ok then,
mrs. november hughes.
