yesterday afternoon i looked out the window and all the birds flew away, per usual.
but one poor little bird remained. it was crouched over in the corner of the food tub.

was it sick? injured? were we going to have to bring it in inside and feed it morsels of vegetable pot pie and cherry crisp? wouldn’t both mollie and winnie try to eat it?

as i moved to try to get a photo so it was facing me, it suddenly flew away. whew.
that’s what i like, happy endings.
here’s the cool little bird feeder we bought around christmastime, the one that has lots of seeds and edible bird things stuck on the outside. the chimney can be re-filled with bird seed, which we do a couple times a day, but the whole house is starting to look rather bedraggled.
they said in the description that you could cover it with peanut butter and attach more seeds and stuff but we haven’t reached that point yet. the only problem with that, besides of course the humongous mess i’d create, would be that mollie, instead of just snarfling around trying to eat the bird seed on the floor of the deck, would be wild to get at that peanut butter.

kevin saw the red and blue and yellow bathroom and now thinks i should paint some more accents in the tiny little hall. he also thought we should get a door to match the door that he installed in the bathroom and i painted, because the other door in the bathroom that we have now is just plain and flat and i painted the whole thing yellow which was easy.
i said i didn’t really have a big interest in painting another door.
ok, here’s the photo i took with my phone yesterday. the yellow is MUCH BRIGHTER than it looks in the picture, at least on my computer screen. think hard-boiled egg yolk. and the blue looks like the blue on the right wall; i don’t know why it’s so washed out-looking on the door.

ok then,
grace deep in the neverending winter.
