things are fairly ok at this little moment in time.  yesterday i power-washed the deck and now it looks dazzling, i’m happy to say.  it’s one of those things i do in may, at the latest.  because of the cold and the constant rain, and, oh yeah, spending most of my time at the hospital, it didn’t get done til yesterday.

the old green furniture covers that dad bought a looooong time ago were still covering most of the outdoor furniture.  i lugged all the plants from the hot tub room out to the back yard, and then made a huge mess on the deck cause i transplanted them into the pots there.  huuuuuge mess everywhere, besides the huge mess of those awful twirly things that fall from the trees.  hmm, there must be a more official name for them?  there’s even a common name that’s better than twirly things.  spinners.  can’t think of it.  i’m pretty sure they’re from the oak tree, but not even clear about that.

anyway, there were thousands of them, plus since it was such a very late spring i hadn’t wanted to clean the deck cause they needed to fall before doing it.

like i said, dazzling.  i’d be out there right now enjoying it but it’s not even 60 degrees yet.

and oh yeah, i have more than one million things to do.

in addition to the power-washing, which made my heels numb, i guess because it was a little bit chilly outside, i also cut back some of the jungle of bushes with the electric hedge trimmer.  i only have a little more of that to do.

kevin helped in the yard a lot yesterday.  this morning when i finally staggered out of bed, he was sitting here on the screened porch and i was looking forward to chatting with him before i throw myself into the day.  but he made his coffee and disappeared, and now he’s back in the basement.  i might be able to lure him up here later, maybe with oatmeal cookies.

in the midst of everything else, i had to go to washington d.c. for a few days last week, and got back on friday.

i will tell you about that sometime, and about the comedy of errors that was my attempt to get back here.  i flew, mostly, but would have made better time if i’d driven.

ok, once more, into the brink,

gh.
