i haven’t been so pleased with this system, taking pictures one day and posting them the next. it feels like too much happens between one day and the next, and with my ever-shrinking memory it’s sometimes hard to remember exactly how things were JUST THE DAY BEFORE.
so i’m going to attempt taking and posting them on the same day, which theoretically could work. but we’ll see.
this morning when i got up it was about seven degrees outside and there was a fog hanging over the lake, which was completely un-frozen. i hadn’t planned on going out first thing, but i did, before i even had my cup of lapsang souchong, when i was still in my red flannel jammies with the dogs on them. i did put on my coat and hat and pink boots because it was SO COLD.

think how much insulation a goose must have.

i just don’t think my camera could completely capture the beauty of the fog, but it does nicely show the still-sparkly snow.

mollie scurried around, sniffing and romping through the snow, but i noticed when she stopped to stick her nose in a hole that her legs were shaking a lot. she didn’t seem to mind the fact that she was really, really cold.

today i started doing something i’ve been meaning to do for at least three years now – i started videotaping my dad, an oral history kind of thing, asking him about his life. i’ve been putting it off for no good reason, and something always seemed to come up, but finally, today, we started. we used up a whole hour of tape and i feel like we’ve barely begun. i learned all kinds of interesting things about him, plus he told a couple stories again that i’d heard before but forgot, of course.
i came home and started in on more bathroom painting. i thought i was all done except for a little bit of blue on one side of the door, but because kevin thought it would be a good idea to paint some colors in the little hallway, i started in on that. tomorrow I WILL FINISH IT. I WANT MY BATHROOM BACK.
someday, someday.
last night we had a pizza that i made last week and froze, and tonight we’re having pizza from the same recipe that amy made for us. it’s a new recipe from “cook’s illustrated,” deep dish and supposed to be like chicago-style deep dish like LOU MALNATIS. it’s good, but it’s not as good as lou’s. but kevin is in heaven because he gets pizza TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW.
ok then,
thursday evening grace.
