and it’s another beautiful, warm sunny day.  yesterday i accomplished many things, and i’m feeling it’s all because it’s so great outside.  nice weather just makes everything better.

*never mind about that.*  now it’s early on monday morning – the day got away from me yesterday, but the taxes have been filed, stuff has been done, it’s a new day…

so…the yard.  first, i dug up the 20-odd 3 to 5 feet rose of sharon bushes that had infiltrated my forsythia and bugged me every year.  luckily the ground was very wet because we’d had so much rain, but still, it took a while.  i’d also dug up some hostas, and then dug up some more.  i planted 20 of them – they were so tiny!

and here’s the fenced-in yard, so barren – right now, as a matter of fact, kevin is planting the new grass he planted in one spot.  there’s still more to be done, but there’s always still more to be done in our yard.

a2

we took a break after our hard work.  this was a couple of weeks ago, april 3rd.

a3

a4

and then this is april 11th, as the hostas are taking off.

and here they are on the 14th.

the patch of grass that kevin planted, including some mulch pellets.  the birds kept eating all the grass, but somehow it’s doing great anyway.  i guess birds don’t eat so much, do they?  bird-like!

i had to take a million pictures of my bleeding heart.  it just dawned on me yesterday that i should buy a bunch more of them, because they are really my favorite flower, and i can’t believe i’ve only known about them for a few years.  they’re just so fascinatingly intricate.

a10

now, i think i’m going to have to print and frame this photo!

a12

i love this one because it shows the progression of the bloom.

a13

here’s the one next to it, the one that the plumbers set a brick on top of.  it’s doing pretty well, and it was a white bleeding heart, as i recall, a volunteer.  hopefully it’ll grow!

the kitties enjoy the new walkway, or at least they enjoy sitting in the dirt next to it.  we looked for octagonal stones because we had a few of them, but they don’t seem to make them anymore.  or maybe we just didn’t look enough places.  but kevin managed to find a bunch that dad had put around in different places in the yard – kind of like a scavenger hunt.

a18

lester enjoys his new jungle gym sometimes, but i’m going to work on it this summer to make it more challenging for him to explore.  i’ll do this in all my free time.

a19

chester, enjoying a sunbeam.

i can’t tell you why i took this or where we were going, but it looks like we were having fun!

a22

he looks so sweet so much of the time – but last night kevin looked for him before going to bed.  les had escaped over the fence again, and came sauntering out from the wood pile.  at least he’s been coming back after escaping, but i know that trying to thwart him will keep kevin busy for a while now.

ok, i hope your monday is good…
