yesterday was mom’s birthday. my mother is an intelligent person, but she started the day by WEIGHING HERSELF. i can’t think of a much worse way to start a birthday. she also cleaned her bathroom, and she interviewed for a job. hmm, are there any other unfortunate things she could have done yesterday?
at least last night we had a lovely dinner for her at our house, complete with lemon cheesecake. but as for the rest of her day…
starting a birthday out right would be to have a chocolate covered chocolate old fashioned doughnut from mel-o-cream. i just realized i’ve NEVER started a birthday out like this. this year, things will be different…
how about the rest of the day, a perfect birthday day? it’s hard to think of good birthday things to do in february when it’s cold and grey outside. take a trip somewhere warm, then, if you have a february birthday.
my birthday is routinely at the end of may, the weather is pretty much always good. but i’m going to spend more time between now and then thinking about how i’d really like to spend my birthday day. because you only get a small number of them, even if you live to be really really old.
so that’s a good thing for all of us to think about, ways to make our own birthday days good, and strategies for making those things happen. if your birthday is tomorrow, i’m sorry that you won’t have lots of time for planning. but you could at least focus on doing something you enjoy, if you can’t actually take that trip or do whatever great birthday things you could do.
time to plan. i must get to work.
ok then,
tuesday, but it feels like wednesday already at least, grace.
