i’m having a bit of trouble focusing on doing just one thing today. i was going to say “this morning,” but somehow the morning has slipped by.
lots and lots of snow. kevin went to “nutcracker” rehearsal fairly early, and i went out and trudged to the mailbox and hit at it with the rose trimmer that i used just two days ago, in order to un-freeze it.
i was going to go work out, i was going to go buy a christmas gift – but the snow has been blowing a lot and there were piles and piles in the driveway, so instead i decided to shovel.
can’t find the shovel. i know we have a shovel, and i thought that shoveling would be good exercise at at least it’s bright and sunny and the snow just makes everything that much brighter – but no shovel.
instead i came inside and cleaned a little, always feeling virtuous if i do that. virtuous me.
but the time is rushing forward much too quickly and i still want to mop the kitchen floor because lately it’s more like a park-like covering instead of linoleum. too many twigs and too much dirt and stuff, it’s really really bad. and i want to write a little bit more of my script because i thought of something i want to include, and i want to put up some xmas decorations because i’m sick of the boxes lying around on the kitchen floor (but at least they do cover some of the dirt) and i want to make some fig bars.
but first, most importantly, i need to put up some more photos of hawaii, to remember that somewhere it’s warm and sunny and lush and gorgeous.
we went to the kailauea lighthouse, and this is one view from the lookout across from the place.
the water is just so dazzling.
and here’s the lighthouse itself.
me at the lighthouse.
we thought this sign was very funny.
the next thing we did on this day was drive to hanalei. like in “puff the magic dragon, lived by the sea, frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called hanalei.” WE WENT TO THE ACTUAL PLACE, HANALEI. we have a few photos of the place, it’s very beautiful, and next time i’ll put them up.
meanwhile, a few photos of NYC, this was the day before the parade when we went to the natural history museum and then to the street outside where they were blowing up the balloons.
kevin took some photos during the very very wet parade, but those, too, must wait, because i have MUCH TO DO RIGHT NOW!
i hope your friday is warm and dry and free from skidding and spinning out.
ok then,
grace.
