randy was feeling it, and so was i. i’ve been fighting it all day, though. i worked out for quite a long time at the fit club, except when i stepped on the treadmill and was treading for a minute or two it suddenly ground to a halt and said REPAIR NEEDED so i had to switch machines. luckily, even though there were lots of people trying to sweat off the overindulgences of xmas day, there was another open machine and i ran for 40 minutes only because “back to the future ii” was on tv, and i couldn’t stop watching.
here are some photos of my husband kevin, seen here playing the guitar like he’ll be doing WITHOUT ME ON NEW YEAR’S EVE.
this was at a gig on a very rainy, very cold night sometime around halloween. VERY rainy. VERY cold.
clearly, though, my husband didn’t care that it was cold and rainy and even very very cold inside the barn where they were performing.
he’s a cheerful guy anyway.
one more photo of him, loving playing that guitar. he’s going to be in southern illinois on our FIRST NEW YEAR’S EVE TOGETHER AS MAN AND WIFE, which doesn’t thrill me. plus, he’s spending the night in LITCHFIELD, and since he’ll be that close i keep thinking I’LL JUST DRIVE DOWN THERE AND STAY WITH HIM. but if it’s such a dangerous time that even HE thinks it’s too dangerous to be on the highway, then perhaps i shouldn’t be on the highway either.
he’s such a nice person, here’s what he gave the fencers in fencing class – he fenced against each of us and let us all win. the spastic nine year-old, who always JUST WANTS TO FENCE, was especially thrilled that he won. i was even forced to fence against the spastic 9YO because i’m left-handed and left-handed fencers aren’t that common.
tonight we watched “elf,” which is a FANTASTIC movie and makes me laugh a lot. well, i don’t actually laugh that much because something has to be really funny to make me laugh and i’m pretty cynical about what’s actually funny. but elf, a really great xmas movie.
new year’s eve performance, coming right up, i think i need to start trying to psych myself into thinking about the reality of doing another show in just a few days. theoretically it’s going to be quite funny.
but only in theory, till it actually happens.
i hope your xmas was everything you wanted it to be, or at least i hope your family didn’t annoy you too much. not that they would, i probably don’t even KNOW your family, but it does seem that the holiday can bring out annoyance in people.
goodnight goodnight goodnight.
grace.
p.s. i think the week between xmas and new year’s should be a MANDATORY HOLIDAY for ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY. i personally don’t feel like doing anything but tomorrow i must do a bunch of stuff.
