the vet called this afternoon.  shadow has kidney failure.  all the levels are bad – she explained about them being up, or down, but whatever, they’re just bad.

so we took him in and learned how to give him subcutaneous fluids.  we’re doing this every day for five days, then they test him again.

the good news is that his blood pressure is just fine.

not that that matters, though, right?  when he has cancer that had spread significantly in the last month plus kidney failure? she said the kidney failure could go into remission, but she didn’t mention anything about the cancer suddenly curing itself.

the thing is, after we did the fluid thing and brough him home, he was bouncing all around, very excited and happy and we took yet another boat ride.  i guess we’ll just keep going out on the boat every day now.

kevin had been out of town, a road trip with his friend wayne to deliver wayne’s motorcycle that he sold to a guy in pennsylvania.  they went to ohio, which seems like more than halfway to me, but i’m not very good with geography.

kevin got home at 3:30 and we had to be at the vet at 4:15.

we got home and then kevin got sick.

so now mollie, winston and i are the only ones who are doing well.

and right now i’m the only one who is awake.

i guess if you can’t beat ’em, you might as well join ’em.

goodnight then,

grace hughes

taking care of everybody sick around here.
