Time, it just keeps flying along. Spot is doing pretty well, thank goodness. His neck wound is still oozing a little blood but because his platelets are either low or gone altogether, so that’s to be expected. The vet called on Thursday to say that his wound was indeed a nasty infection and the injected antibiotics didn’t work on it, but the oral antibiotics are good.

The only problem with that is squirting it into his mouth. It must taste vile because initially he gagged most of it out. I’ve gotten better at doing it, though, and taking it slowly seemed to help. At least until yesterday, anyway, when I picked up a refill and tried to give it to him last night and he flinched away and then he swatted at me a couple of times, pretty forcefully but he didn’t use his claws so that was nice of him. I got most of it in him, anyway.

Cats cats cats all the time cats.

When I went running last Saturday I couldn’t believe how close I got to this deer. They are always fascinating even though we see them at least once a day.

Later that afternoon a fawn froze in the wood pile because it was so terrified of us.

The weather was still good for the tomb ceremony last Tuesday evening and the flags blowing in the breeze were quite a sight.

Thursday Mom and I went on an evening boat ride and the moon looked radiant.

i think this lily is spectacular.

This was also yesterday…

…and today all three are in bloom. They’re the last of the fancier lilies, I think all of them planted by Dad, and transplanted by me because the deer think they’re a delicacy. Hmm, so I guess that means that deer’s palates have become more refined, because they didn’t eat the lilies when Mom and Dad lived here? Or maybe it’s because there are more and more deer and they’re desperate to eat anything.

Riley, just now. Riley loves to be out on the swing almost all the time.

This morning Kevin set sail again and I walked down to see him as he came in.

Also right now, a deer and a squirrel are enjoying the bird food. That’s a volunteer sunflower, sprung up from one of the multitude of sunflower seeds that fell off the bird feeder on the deck over the winter. You can just see some of the orange day lilies over there on the right.

And last but certainly not least. my darling Lester who is always happy to keep me company.

It’s quite lovely to just sit here on the couch this afternoon, I feel that it’s been nonstop around here all week.

Ok then,

Mrs. Saturday Afternoon Hughes.
