i woke up at one and laid there for a while.  winnie jumped up on the bed and slept on my shoulder until i couldn’t stand the weight anymore, and then he slept next to me.  at two i finally got up because i just wasn’t sleepy.  i started obsessing about random things, then cleaned off the kitchen counter which is always stacked with a messy pile of mail and papers of all kinds and it makes me crazy, especially at two in the morning.

i finally turned on the tv and of course there were many many paid programs, including one for some kind of heel-fixer and it showed all these horrible-looking heels and the after shots of the heels looking great.  and it was only TEN DOLLARS.  PLUS you also got, for another measly ten bucks, a whole kit of pedicure-type stuff.  it was interesting in a three-in-the-morning kind of way.

but then i turned on the news – i didn’t know that the big networks have all-night newscasts.  i switched between ABC and the weather channel.  this woman on the weather channel just looked bad.  her blouse didn’t really match her skirt, and the skirt had big ugly poochy fabric draping stuff around her hips, which highlighted them and they shouldn’t have been highlighted.  do they make such a paltry amount of money working the night shift that they can’t afford a decent outfit?  but you can get clothes cheap, and i’m sure she could find something better.  her hair also needed to be combed. doesn’t anybody look at people on the air and tell them how to dress?  didn’t anybody have a comb?

i turned on the weather channel this morning and she was still there!  so maybe she has no time to go out and buy clothes because they make her work 24 hours a day.  her hair looked even worse which i assume means she had no time in the hours that i was finally sleeping to look in a mirror and realize it needed some combing, but at least she was sitting down so you couldn’t see the hideous skirt .

and then, ABC – the newscasters were ok, but they were jokey and casual, also in t three-in-the-morning way.  they made little cracks to each other, stuff that you’d never hear on any normal hours news program.

after a while i was just too cold to stay up so i went back to bed and eventually must have gone to sleep because i definitely woke up this morning.  kevin, of course, had gotten up early, not much past the time i went back to bed, but winnie and mollie were lying with me, and they were surprisingly close together but of course pretending that the other didn’t actually exist.

two of my bathroom walls are still much too egg yolk yellow, my tooth fiasco is going to cost a ridiculous amount of money plus the insurance doesn’t cover the twilight anesthesia; does the insurance company think i should have the thing dug and chipped away with me wide awake and screaming?

plus all the things that were deeply troubling last night are probably still there, but nothing seems so bad in the light of day.  yesterday i took some pictures of the snow and i’m going to post them here pretty soon, after i do a little painting of the deep red bathroom trim .

ok then,

grace on wednesday already.
