it was kind of like Christmas morning.  i was lying in bed and decided i just couldn’t stay there any longer because i was so excited.

MeTV!  i found it last night; in springfield it’s on channel 231.  it runs a big variety of classic shows, from the old bob newhart, the good one with suzanne pleschette, to mary tyler moore, love, american style, Mission: Impossible, The Mod Squad, Dobie Gillis,  Taxi, Marshal Dillon, Gomer Pyle, Family Affair, My Three Sons..all kinds of shows, including ones i hadn’t heard of but kevin was really excited about, like The Rifleman and Combat…last night i was highly entertained watching bob newhart.

i was excited about the prospect this morning of watching petticoat junction, which i DVRd because it was on at 6:30 a.m.

and like christmas, it was kind of disappointing.  i was most excited about the opening song with the train running along the track,

Come ride the little train that is rolling down the tracks to the junction.
(Petticoat Junction)
Forget about your cares, it is time to relax at the junction.

after that, though, the show is just a little bit hokey.  not bad, but not as wonderful as i remembered from watching it as a kid.
but still, there are many fine shows worth watching, and i can’t wait.  i already missed this bizarre story on love american style this morning:Two parents are worried about their daughter Kim’s plans to take a “swinger’s tour” of Europe with her boyfriend. They confront Dennis and ask him to spike Kim’s orange juice with the birth control pill.

seriously?

check it out.

ok then,
