we are going to the madonna concert in st. louis tonight! no, of course, kevin isn’t going; i wouldn’t subject him to the very very late night filled with very very loud music! i’ve read a few reviews online of her concerts around the country, and they mentioned that the show is supposed to start at eight, but didn’t start til 10:30. so we are prepared.
mom asked me what i was going to wear, randy, told me that we “need to look cool,” and amy texted me asking if i needed help with an outfit. since i am not planning on dressing up like madonna (i’m sure many people will), i’m not really too concerned with my own personal outfit. i will not be performing, i will be a mere audience member amongst thousands of other mostly female audience members, and really, who cares what i wear?
i am not going to wear my sneakers, which is a huge thing for me. i may also wear eyeshadow.
i remember going to a U2 concert many years ago in LA, and i wore some very high sandals, and our seats were so high up that i had a nosebleed, and i remember teetering past the hordes of people trying to get to my seat, and looking down and being afraid that i was going to pitch down to my death below. so no crazy high heels for me.
a friend told amy that a double jack and coke at a a madonna concert she attended was 22 bucks, so i will have to fill my purse with hidden little bottles of alcohol.
we will spend the night in st. louis, so as to not to have to drive home so very late. i will miss kevin terribly, but i won’t mind not being wakened in the middle of the night by Cat Wars.
and speaking of, have you heard that george lucas is selling lucasfilms to disney, who is going to make three new star wars movies starting in 2015? kevin is beside himself with excitement. i told him we can start standing in line for tickets any time he wants.
this morning i knew i had to create a new banner, and i was very happy to find that kevin had taken the beautiful sunrise photo that you see now.
here the photo in its entirety.

and a few more that he took this morning. it makes me really wish that i could go to sleep earlier and get up to see stuff like this.
but it’d always be so early.

here are a few photos of flowers that i took a while ago…i wonder if the flowers are still blooming? good grief, i need to walk down to the lake, who knows what’s happening down there.

i brought the two hibiscus trees in, plus all the many flowers including the six window boxes, and now our house is overstuffed with plants. there are too many out on the screened porch, plus if it gets really really cold this winter it’ll be freezing out there and they will have to be brought in, which means there won’t be any place to actually walk around inside. we could always lug some of them upstairs, i guess, but i don’t even wanna think about that right now.

we’ve always seen white pelicans in the dead of winter, but a big gaggle was out on the lake last month.

chester is still allowed outside, but les is confined to house for the immediate future, until kevin figures out a new fence-fortifying strategy.

poor little numie had to have his teeth cleaned, which was traumatizing for him. it looks like he’ll survive.

these are the very last photos of amy and me in these halloween get-ups, which are kind of lame because we wore them last year. here we are at the zumba costume class on tuesday night. it was very warm to do zumba wearing a wig, but i was the only one with green hair. amy bought big pink rollers to further enhance her classy outfit.
she started driving to class, but then her tooth-black fell off so she stopped the car and i took over the driving so she could get it back on her tooth. the black tooth was crucial to her overall look.

this is our official photo from going out on saturday night. i like the fact that chester is over there on the counter, plus it looks like there are piles and piles of crap all over the kitchen counter. which there probably were.

ok then,
mrs. first day of november hughes.
