sometimes i think about all the stuff that’s at the bottom of the lake.  i, personally, have dropped an expensive pair of clip-on sunglasses and noodle’s leash.  i also dropped a pair of hedge clippers but luckily i was wearing my bathing suit at the time, plus it was summer and warm, so i was able to retrieve them.

yesterday when i was taking les paul for a walk and also taking pictures of him, i saw this sticking out of the water.

hmm, was it part of the old dock?

no, i realized, it was the legs of the adirondack chair!  this chair had fallen into the lake a couple of years ago, and when amy went swimming she felt it with her feet and they hauled it up.  we cleaned it up…but this summer, back in the lake it fell.  i went swimming in october because it was crazy warm out, and i felt all around the dock for the chair but didn’t find it.  and so here it was.

i figured i’d tell kevin about it, and when he saw it he immediately knew what it was.  then he found a handy pole sitting at the dock and with his long arms easily reached it.

it was really thick with slime.

smelly, too.  mollie was delighted.  here it is with the cute chairs, some of which kevin spray-painted.

hmm, i wonder if it’s in any shape to be cleaned and painted.  i hope so, because we could use another chair.  of course, since it has fallen into the lake two times now, i’m figuring that it’s only a matter of time before it heads back there again.

it’s always something.

ok then,

mrs. no more daylight savings time hughes.
