Have you ever seen such an unusual and beautiful Canna Lily? I can’t remember where Randy says he bought it, but it’s amazing. Not only is the flower two-toned, but the leaves have wonderful stripes. Spectacular.

Sweetie and Riley enjoying the screened porch. They’re rarely so close together.

Lester, King of Awesomeness.

When I went running on July 2nd I spotted these four bucks with antlers. Since then I’ve seen them a few more times.

That evening I took a lot of pictures of the 114th tomb ceremony because Kevin was in the front line instead of the back, where he’s been most times.

There he is, just left of the guy with his head bowed. I don’t know if you can see the guy who is third from the right, but he has a fluffy white mustache and beard and looks exactly like Santa Claus in “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” I hope he has a well-paying job as Santa somewhere!

Now you can more easily see Kevin, looking somber like everybody else. Santa also looks very serious and un-Santa-like.

They fire three rounds before lowering the flag iand I managed to capture this big explosive shot.

They always line up at the very end so people can take photos, and I got Kevin to smile just a little.

The next day he was out of uniform and doing his normal Kevin-fixing-all-stuff. Our washing machine broke and Kevin ordered on online and picked it up and managed to get it down to the basement and install it and it was ready to go in a flash. He’s not just eye candy, but can fix and take care of just about everything…

We had a break from the heat for a while but now the temp and humidity is going to be creeping up this week, so maybe I’ll get more inside things done.

One thing I’d like to tackle are my big stacks of paper. Receipts, letters, all kinds of miscellaneous stuff that collects so quickly and I pile it up and then, if we’re having company, I put it in the music room on the piano bench.

So now I have one pile in the kitchen and one in the music room and I think I’ll put them together into a giant stack and bravely try to recycle most of it. The problem is all that stuff that I don’t want to get rid of but don’t know where to put it. I know that other people have this issue, but I don’t know how they handle it.

It’s always something.

Ok then,

Mrs. almost August Hughes.
