randy and i stopped by the grocery store the other day and i debated about buying a box of organic flax cereal. it’s quite delicious plus it’s very good for you and i had gotten it at wal-mart for about $3/box.
but we happened to be in a county market, and the cereal was the outrageous price of five bucks. come ON. randy said it must taste HORRIBLE and would be like eating twigs and bark but i assured him it was good plus very healthy but i didn’t know if i wanted to spend five bucks for it but on the other hand they seem to have stopped carying it at wal-mart or other stores i’d tried.
so i bought it and felt like it was a huge splurge.
i had a bowl, kevin had a couple bowls in a couple days.
and then we went away yesterday morning and came back and there was the remains of the cereal scattered all over the kitchen floor, plus the mutilated box and the shredded bits of the bag.
mollie had previously gotten into the other lazy susan cabinet and broken into the whole wheat pastry flour for some bizarre reason known only to her, but she had never ventured over to the other lazy susan where all the cereal is stored.
we have plenty of cereal in there, stuff that would probably be more to randy’s liking.
but mollie thought it was quite tasty.
i don’t know why we were so surprised by this. every time we secure some cabinet or we put the garbage can in the garage she figures out how to get into something else.
kevin ordered child-proof locks for the cabinets.
maybe it’ll take her a while to figure out how to open them.
i’m worried about the inevitable day when she finally figures out how to open the fridge.
she probably already knows how, actually, but she doesn’t have the strength yet to master it.
give her time.
ok then,
friday afternoon grace.

child safety latches, perhaps? or do you just plan to live with it, which is a perfectly reasonable option, i guess.
The latches are due to arrive any day now. My big worry is what we will do WHEN Mollie learns to open the fridge… Chains & padlocks???
or we’ll have to put everything good high up on the shelves, just condiments below. kind of like i try to do now since you never see anything below the top shelf.
