whew, that’s a relief!  the world didn’t end yesterday, and we only have one more show this afternoon!  i hoped you had a chance to see it, or i hope you’ll be there this afternoon.  we haven’t had big crowds, but they’ve been enthusiastic.  maybe if they’d ever gotten my name on the poster, we’d have had GOBS more people!   because mom initially had my part, her name was put on the poster and they never fixed it.  it’s too late now!

i have to hurry here; i’m typing about a zillion words a minute; i have to get my old lady hairdo in less than half an hour, then i have to eat something, then i have to go do the show.  a very busy sunday…

here is what my hair looked on friday night; i told amy it reminded my of one of James’ old aunts in “james and the giant peach.”  the mean skinny old aunt was named Striker (amy remembered that, not me), and the mean fat one was Sponge.  i think my hair looks a lot like Striker’s.  super funny.

here are some pictures of sutlers’ row at fort shendoah.  i realize that almost nobody reading this will ever get the chance to see this place, so here it is.

it seems that there aren’t many people walking around.

and here, it seems that not many of the little shops are open.  i think kevin took this on one of the first days he got there, wednesday or thursday.  the big crowds weren’t expected till the weekend for the team events.

this looks like a pretty dress, except if i were to have a civil war-era dress, i’d want one with short sleeves, for dancing.

where are all the people?  and surely some of these must be food stands, musn’t they?  i see no food stands.  i must get to this fort someday to take some photos myself, not that kevin’s photos aren’t AWESOME!

when they were driving back to their campsite, garrick took this picture, outside a hospital.  clever, i think.

and here’s the pool at their camp.  nice that they have a pool, but kevin said it was way too cold for swimming.

kevin participated in five different individual shooting events – the carbine, the smoothbore, the henry, the revolver, and the…damn, i can’t remember the fifth one.  i usually only remember four out of the five, and forget different one.  THE RIFLED MUSKET!  ta da!  brain is not QUITE gone yet, luckily…

he got a sixth place medal in one of the competitions.  i can’t possibly remember which one.  every time i’ve talked to him he sounds muffled and i have to keep asking him to repeat things, plus i always hear the ANNOYING ECHO OF MY OWN SQUEAKY VOICE, which is annoying.  he also did well in other things, but also, can’t remember.

i can’t remember exactly how many team events he did; i know he did one yesterday and one this morning, and he should packed up and almost ready to start HEADING HOME right about now, if everything went as planned.  YAY for that!

ok ok ok then,

old mrs. hughes.
