today is my brother david’s 50th birthday.  gee, the 50th birthdays just keep coming, don’t they?  i’ve already told him i’m not making him a giant, multi-tiered wedding-type cake like i did for randy’s recent 50th, and david is, of course, fine with that.  david is very mellow, as you can see here…

here’s his very first birthday cake…

and here, he was two years old.

here, he was four and i was two.

we used to play a lot of music when we were kids.

mmm, he’s blowing out the candles on a cake from the b&z bakery.  i have such faint memories of the b&z, but i know the cake was delicious…

he’s still blowing out the candles…this was a few years ago, and the halloween decorations hadn’t been taken down then, either, like today.

david has always loved the water…here he is on sanibel island in florida.

…and here we are on lake springfield.

hmm, halloween two years ago…david’s beard looks very familiar – i think mom used it this year to be a gay wizard.

but he does clean up well…

all the cute fellers at shaw’s garden in st. louis.

tonight we’ll celebrate david’s birthday, NOT a surprise party, thank god.  but it will be festive nonetheless.

and there’ll be more HALLOWEEN PHOTOS later in the day when i have a minute…

ok then,

wednesday grace hughes.
