yesterday when my MIL Nancy called, we talked a little bit about Honey, who was famous for brining in live and dead animals and birds.

Winnie must have been listening.  this morning when i got up, the first thing i saw was a dead mouse on the bedroom rug.  Clearly, he wanted us to know that Honey wasn’t the only Killer Cat in the house.

When i came out into the living room he was lying on Kevin’s lap, clearly exhausted from his toils.

i like this picture because his eyes are glowing in an appropriately halloween-type manner.

adj-1

last night we went to see the play “the rocky horror show” at the hoogland, and it was really fun.  the audience was enthusiastic about yelling out all those appropriate lines, and the old guy in front of us seemed to be particularly adept at it.  at intermission i leaned over to him and said he must have seen the movie a lot and he said, “yep, thousands of times, starting in the 70’s, in Peoria, Bloomington, Chicago.”  like i said, he was pretty old and wore a “101st airborne” ball cap.

some people were in costume for the event.  one guy was dressed like Brad Majors, in tighty whities and a robe and the big glasses.  it was funny to look at him during intermission, just nonchantly standing around in his BVDs.

one guy was dressed as Frank-n-Furter, and he was even taller than the one in the play, joshua ratz, who was very VERY tall in his heels.  joshua did an excellent job of strutting around in those heels, which must have taken a huge amount of practice.

mary young should get some special prize for being so amazing at looking so perfect for a role.  she was Magenta, and her wigs, costumes and makeup were perfect.  plus, of course, she acted exactly like Magenta in the movie.  actually, i think annie germann did all the makeup, and annie can do no wrong.

kudos should also go to patrick russell and shannon lawler, who were up on stage in their underwear for most of the play.  actually, at least shannon got to wear a slip, but patrick was just wearing the underwear.  but then again, the guy in the audience didn’t seem to be bothered by dressing like that…

it’s cool that springfield had such an interesting and funny show for halloween, especially because it was so much about audience participation.

if you want to go, it’s still playing tonight at five and nine, and i bet there are at least still tix for the early show.

i have to do stuff for the party now, like cutting the velveeta into chunks.  hopefully not a very stressful and frantic day today…

ok then,

halloween grace.
