and you should totally see it in 3D, and if you live in or near tallahassee, florida, you’re in luck; otherwise, you are screwed.

i didn’t really care so much about seeing “gravity,” and didn’t think about it, but then there was a glowing review in the WSJ and then a big spread about how all the demographics couldn’t get enough, and there were photos of how they did the incredibly elaborate effects, and i skimmed over it and thought, hmm, maybe i should go.

kevin even wanted to go along, so he and mom and i went and OH MY GOD IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT, GO RIGHT NOW.

i was holding kevin’s hand the whole time but i’m pretty sure i was gripping it tightly throughout the entire movie, which roared past in the blink of an eye.

i tried to convince randy, who was also a non-believer, but i don’t think i’ve convinced him that HE MUST GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

so now i totally want to see it on an IMAX screen, because that would be completely awesome, but i’ve been furiously looking it up, and now all that’s showing on IMAX is “thor” and that stupid “ender’s game,” which is getting horrible reviews and sounds abysmal and why is that stupid movie taking up valuable IMAX movie screen space?

i couldn’t find any imax theaters still showing gravity anywhere near here, so then i did an imax search of the WHOLE UNITED STATES, and, well…tallahassee.  yeah, that’s it, just tallahassee.  which is EIGHT HUNDRED AND SEVENTY MILES, about 13 hours, from my house.

and it might not be playing there in tallahassee after thursday.

GRRRRRRRRR, is all i have to say about that.

maybe, when it starts to reel in many, many oscar nominations, the lunkheads in charge of IMAX will bring it back?  i really, really hope so.  i mean, really, it’s such a stupendous movie and it’s ONLY PLAYING IN TALLAHASSEE???

i just can’t get to tallahassee by thursday.

damndamndamn.

i did a more thorough IMAX search, thinking that surely, SURELY, it’d still be playing somewhere in the LA area.  what a great excuse to fly out to LA!  but no, it’s not playing on an IMAX screen anywhere in the whole damn area.  JUST TALLAHASSEE.

i looked up the reviews on rottentomatoes.com, and 97% of the reviewers loved it.  i read a few of the reviews, but now i’m thinking, what about that 3%?  who are these people?  are they the blind reviewers?  because i can understand that if you were blind, the movie would not be nearly as good.

maybe the 3% were reviewers who were too dumb to realize that they were at a 3D movie and they didn’t put on the glasses so the whole thing was fuzzy.

i guess i won’t be seeing “gravity” in 3D anytime soon, maybe never.

oh well.

on other fronts…mostly i don’t wanna talk about it.  highlights include the fact that it might snow tonight, and in the middle of the night it’s going to feel like it’s 6 degress outside.

at least i’ll be lying under my electric blanket and my clean flannel sheets, hopefully with les paul snuggled up with me, and even more hopefully, i’ll be asleep.

probably wishful thinking.

while kevin was in virginia, waaaay back at the end of september/beginning of october, i ordered a new kitty fountain, because the vet told me that cats will be more likely to drink out of a fountain.  we used to have one of those plastic pet fountains but it was a huge pain to clean, so we gave it away.

i found this beautiful fountain on amazon, and i plugged it in…

and here’s les paul, looking suspiciously at it under the dining room table.  that’s as close as he’d get.

chester, of course, was even more afraid of the evil fountain, and wouldn’t even get down off the counter.  even though we’re no longer feeding the cats on the counter, they still think they need to be up there as much as possible, especially chester.

so now what?  i guess i could send the fountain back.  i tried unplugging it, but i haven’t seen them even get near it.  i put other bowls of water down on the floor in different places so at least they’d drink somewhere sometime, but i’m starting to feel that mollie was the only one who ever did any drinking at all.

i should take les out on the leash today, because according to weather.com it’s going to be in the 50’s til about 2:30, which is in 45 minutes, then the temperature will plummet and it’ll be windy and awful.

here’s les out for a walk, with winnie keeping a close eye on him.

jim and amy took the boat out one last time in the middle of october, and their dogs thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as usual.

when kevin finally came home, he spread hi sleeping bag out in the screened porch to air it out, and chester found it to be a delightful place to sleep.

kevin found this photo on his computer – shortie and the giz were here for a visit, and lester was a very curious cat.

and finally, randy sent me this wonderful picture of his cat rupee.  i only see her whoosh by whenever i go to randy’s house, because she’s a very very scaredy cat, but of course when it’s just rupee and randy, she’s darling.

ok, now i have a half hour to get outside with my adventure cat.
