is just one of the many things that make living here in the heartland so awe-inspiring.

the other day a neighbor brought us a plate of xmas cookies. mostly it was pizzelles, which were quite delicious. but there were also some small balls which were fried something, and they tasted to me like FRIED KIX. you know, the cereal.

yesterday we went to a little holiday gathering at another neighbor’s house – it started at ten in the morning, kind of early for reveling, but it was fun to drink punch with balls of sherbet in it and plates and plates of cookies and chocolate not that long after i’d gotten out of bed. “start your day with sherbet and chocolate” could be a good motto to live by.

the neighbor who had given us the mystery fried balls was there, and i asked her how she made them. “lots of butter and sugar, and Kix,” she said. i was right, they were, indeed, FRIED KIX. delicious and nutritious and just one more reason why i’m going to gain 100 pounds in this holiday season.

last night ended with a party, too, one with a chocolate fountain. it was at randy’s and i was in charge of both assembling the fountain and melting the huge quantities of chocolate, and i managed to do my tasks without flipping any chocolate-covered spoons onto the newly-cleaned floor. nor did i crash into the fountain and create a chocolate river.

a good time was had by all.

ok, i really REALLY have to focus on xmas-type stuff because it’s coming right up.

you wouldn’t know it by the weater, though, because yesterday it was in the hight 50’s and i went running with mollie and today it’s going to be almost as warm and the grass is pretty green and i think we’ve seen enough of winter for one winter.

ok, must get busy, i hope your friday is good and stress-free.

grace with the holiday waddle.
