and i have no pictures for a nice, new may banner up there.  i’ve been sitting here working on one; i used the tray of delicious IRISH CAR BOMB CUPCAKES, but it was just…boring.  even kevin admitted that it was boring, and for him to even have the slightest hint of a negative comment about ANYTHING i do, well that means…boring.

i guess i could use some photos from last year…surely i must have gobs of photos of stuff from last year…but i like to have current photos, things that reflect the actual present day time right now.

i haven’t taken enough pictures in april, clearly.  NOT THAT MUCH HAS BEEN HAPPENING…well, not  much picture-wise – we did have the exciting MAN HUNT a coupla weeks ago, and then there was the DRAMATIC SNAPPING TURTLE RESCUE…but there’s not so much, photo-wise.  the problem is ALL THIS DAMN SITTING AROUND i do now.  last night i went to bed at NINE and got up at SEVEN.  WHO NEEDS TEN HOURS OF SLEEP?

me, and small children.  i’m going back to the damn doctor tomorrow.  i will wait and wait and wait some more, and then i will tell him that IT’S BEEN FIVE WEEKS AND I STILL  HAVE NO ENERGY AND AM TIRED ALL THE TIME.  he will think up some more tests, and then HE WON’T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH ME.

yesterday i decided i was just going to ignore the whole thing.  this didn’t work at all.

we went to on this “kitchens in bloom” tour, which consisted of tromping around five fancy and very very clean homes.  they were all on the west side of town this year; last year the homes were on the lake.  the first three homes were so fancy that it was like WHO WOULD EVER LIVE IN A PLACE LIKE THIS?  man, they had nice kitchens.  nice.  all of them had islands; if we had an island in our kitchen, you wouldn’t be able to actually walk around the island, cause the kitchen is so small.  but really, i do have enough counter space, especially on those rare times that the counter is actually cleaned of all the papers and plastic bags and debris.  but an island would be neat.  fancy.

the 4th home was nice and big with a great kitchen PLUS a full kitchen down in the party basement, but at least this one had more stuff – more things on the wall like interesting photos, not just those big pretentious family photos of the family looking all elegantly casual and all dressed in black or white and probably the photo itself is black and white, with a ridiculously huge ornate frame.  this fourth house had a nice big dining table with arts and crafts type chairs with nice comfy cushions on them.  plus on a chair in an office area, there was a great big kitty just sitting there, hanging out and waiting to be petted.

in one of the more pristine homes, a beautiful kitty was out on the deck, desperately clawing at the door, begging to be let in, but nobody did.  amy went out and petted him for a while, and she said he licked her hand.  poor kitty; why wouldn’t they let it inside?  i hope he’s warm and comfortably napping today.

the fifth home belonged to sheriff neil williamson, and it was nice, and there was a player grand piano in the front room.  neil was there greeting people and dad chatted him up.   the home was nice, with some nice stuff, and it wasn’t over-the-top austere either.  in the basement was a locked door on which was taped a sign that said STORM SHELTER, and the greeter ladies kept explaining that this was built under some concrete or something, and so it was perfect for a tornado.

i went home and told kevin this and he told me the REAL DEAL – he said in cop parlance, this was actually called a ZOMBIE SHELTER.  so if/when there’s some kind of REALLY GIGANTIC disaster, it’s loaded up with MREs (meals ready to eat, those freeze-dried foods that they use in the military), plus plenty of firepower, cause when the world TURNS TO SHEER CHAOS, people who have no food will be JUST LIKE ZOMBIES, that is, they will come and KILL YOU FOR YOUR FOOD.  i assume they wouldn’t actually eat your brains, in true zombie fashion, but i guess you never know.

anyway, so that’s my little SECRET COP TIDBIT for the day.  so if the world DOES ALMOST COME TO AN END, please hurry up and come over to our house – i’m sure there’s tons of MREs squirreled away, plus plenty of stuff to protect us from any zombies.

all that walking around through houses yesterday was so tiring, plus i didn’t take a nap, so i guess that’s why i went to bed at nine.

today is kind of chilly and gray and it’ll probably rain some more, but any day now it will be sunny and beautiful and i must be outside doing many, many things, including gardening and walking and riding my bike.  so enough with the chronic fatigue and no energy already.

soon there will be a happy may banner.

PLUS, tomorrow is dad’s birthday, so please wish him a happy birthday if you see him, but you probably won’t see him because he like to stay home.  we will celebrate by going out to dinner on saturday, because i have rehearsal tomorrow night.

ok already,

mrs. monday morning hughes.
