when i got up this morning the swans were circling down by the dock. i put the popcorn into the microwave, as amy sent me a text – DON’T FEED THE SWANS FOR A WHILE, I JUST FED THEM. i stopped the microwave.
she can’t find out how much you are supposed to feed them. surely it must be somewhere out there on the net?
last night our raccoon was sitting out on the deck eating birdseed and corn, scooping it up in his little paws and stuffing it in his mouth. he’s SO CUTE…and so fat. he didn’t stay long because clearly, he’s getting a lot to eat. he then slowly climbed off his perch on top of a table and waddled off.
probably we’ll have to put all of them on a diet. except for the birds, who are still normal-sized and not so heavy that they can’t fly anymore.
after i make placards to hang around the swans’ necks admonishing people DON’T FEED ME BREAD, i’m going to make a big sign and mount it in the yard – AMY AND GRACE’S WILDLIFE SANCTUARY. we can charge money to let people come over and help feed the swans and the birds, plus they could hang out in the living room to watch mr. raccoon waddling around.
since i have no pictures this morning, here’s a charming little video, made in 1956, a home movie a guy shot about his family winning a trip to disneyland, courtesy of scotch brand cellophone tape. it’s a half-hour long, and very entertaining, including shots of driving along highway in the LA area, and there are actual orange groves, and wide open spaces. disneyland looked a little scruffy back then; it had only been open a year.
in 2008, the movie was named to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. i’m sorry it’s too wide here; when i change the parameters, it doesn’t show up.
ok then,
mrs. wednesday morning hughes.
