this afternoon i just found out that a friend’s partner died on friday morning. my friend jimmy got up, went out on the porch…and david was dead. he was young, healthy, no medical problems…and then he just died.
it’s sobering and very very sad. jimmy is having a celebration of life for david on wednesday.
so we should all think about that. celebrating life. because you have no idea how long it’s going to last.
here are a few of the many photos i took at the missouri botanical garden last monday, when the weather was perfect and the trees were glorious.
i can’t think of a better way to celebrate life.
here is everybody at the start. the statue in the fountain is by Niki de Sainte Phalle, an interesting artist who made all kinds of wonderful things.

here’s david being very zen-like in front of the first huge statue.

we went into the conservatory, which is like a tropical rainforest and maybe we’ll move in there this winter. it’s warm and wonderful and there were more statues inside.

here is kevin doing his impression of amy’s only halloween face. i think he did an excellent job.

here are some lovely orchids.

ok, i have no more time to post any more photos right now. more later.
and remember – CELEBRATE LIFE.
ok then,
monday evening grace.

Wow, Grace. Very sorry for your loss and that of your friend. It is a good thing, I think, to celebrate the life rather than focus on the grieving. The grieving will happen at random times all on its own. You know the departed would feel so sad to see everyone in mourning and so somber, a happy party is a much better sendoff. And we all do need a reminder to live in the present—
absolutely, janet!
